I know a lot of us that are on here regularly have gotten to know a bit about each other. I thought it might be nice to share a little biography of ourselves but only as much as you feel comfortable sharing in an open forum.
My name is Deb and I'm 52. I live in a little village called Campden in the Niagara Peninsula area of Ontario, Canada. I live on a 70 acre farm with my husband Allan and our cat Lucy. I have 29 yr old daughter who is finishing up a PhD in psychology at a university 5 hours from here (Laurentian) and will be getting married next spring. My son is 27 and is married with 3 little girls who keep us all busy.
I work full time as the assistant manager of a vineyard management company. We look after 500 ha of grapes from the Niagara River to Grimsby area. It can be really hectic in the summer but nice and quiet in the winter. I really enjoy my job which makes life a lot more fun.
I've never been really overweight but somehow in the past 10 yrs about 20 lbs snuck up on me. It was really gradual so I didn't notice it until I saw some pictures of myself on our vacation to the Bahamas. I asked my daughter why she didn't tell me I was getting fat and she said because she wasn't crazy! I knew I could diet and lose some weight but I wanted to get fit and healthy not just thinner.
My daughter bought me the Wii with Wii Fit last April and I started using it and seeing results. I really enjoyed it but wanted more of a challenge so I got EA Sports Active and really started to see weight loss and toning. I am totally addicted to exercise and living healthy now. I've lost about 18 lbs so far and am really happy with the way I look and feel. My new challenge is to get my daughter in law the same way. She wants to lose about 100 lbs so we've got our work cut out!
Looking forward to hearing from others on the forum.

My name is Karl and I'm 61. My wife and I live in a house we built ten years ago in Vienna, Austria, Europe.
Because I paying in 45 years in the retirement pension insurance, I had and used the chance to go in pension after my 60. birthday. We love our garden, child's, grandchilds, books, day trips and other things. In our garden Our dog, a West Highland White Terrier called Winny died some years ago, but my little daughter (only 180cm ) has an pug called Bruno. Both now integrated in the Wii Fit, and it's nice to see it as a part of the family in all the different games.
Only my woman has overweight so we use Wii Fit mostly to keep mobility and healthy (not forget fun ) in the cold season. I was and been a technician from heart and soul and I'm proud to see people travel around using parts a made more then thirty years ago. However my worst skill are languages. My only "failed" in all the school year I got in English (I know It's absolute no problem to believe it )

Hello my name is Amy, and I have worked at the General Motors Lordstown Assembly plant in Ohio for the last 7 years. I will be 28 years old on May 11th, but I feel like I am about 50 years old but the Wii keeps me going. Assembly work is extremely hard on your body, and I have pulled and broke several bones since I have been there but keep on ticking. I have 2 Chihuahua's named Chi-Chi & Gizmo, I am single with no kids and I intend on staying that way! I am a kindred spirit to the 10th power, I have a serious passion for trucks and anything automobile related. My favorite drink used to be Bacardi & Cherry Coke, but since I started the Wii I quit drinking cold turkey. I dropped out of high school in 9th grade because of health reasons, and I got my GED 1 week later on the first try.
The biggest dissapointment in my life was failing the military entrance exam, because of something that happened when I was only 2 weeks old! I was born with a fully fused skull at birth which was why my mom had to have a seasection, and they had to do brain surgery when I was 2 weeks old. The military said because I had several plates in my head I wasn't good enough, that was a huge let down and sent me into a huge depression and it took me a long time to get over that. My dream was to join the Navy and make my parents happy and proud, so now I make automobiles!!!
This forum has been of great inspiration to me in the past few months, and I thank all of you for your support and sharing your stories. I hope my little story here maybe helps somebody work through there ruff times, never ever give up on anything all it will do is slow you down.

I am John and my wife and I live in rural Pictou County, Nova Scotia, Canada in a home I built myself 28 years ago. I grew up in Southern Ontario though I was born in Myjdrecht, Holland. I worked there in an auto parts plant among other things. I am retired now from a large private printing company that had about 20 employees when I started and now has over 490. I started at the bottom and worked my way up into management and am happy I ws part of that. I retired at 55 and now work at a golf course during the season. It keeps me fit and outside with a lot of friendly folk. Zero stress and I work my own hours plus I love to play. We have 3 children all married and 7 grandchildren that keep us busy and happy. I love to travel, fish, camp, garden and most things outdoors but woodworking is my favorite passtime (furniture, toys, buildings, you name it). My pets live only in my memories now. We got our Wii in Nov 2009 to try and keep in shape over the winter. I am a colon cancer survivor and last winter spent too much time recouperating and getting soft. I feel great now and though I am not really much overweight I would love to lose a few pounds off my belly. So far I am not losing anything but I think I am firming up. As you all know my favorite game is cycling, both speed balloons and distance challenge. I also love obstacle course, tilt table and play most of the other games a little.

Mokey, thank you for starting this thread -- Great idea! Boy, can I relate to those pounds sneaking up on you!!! Same thing here, til finally this past winter, I took a good look at myself and decided something had to change!
I'm Becky, age 48, living in San Antonio TX with my husband of 23 years, daughter age 21 and son age 17. I am a respiratory therapist and my husband is an art teacher. My daughter is going to university near home, and son is a junior in high school. I have been lucky to be relatively thin all my life, til the last few years. Then I quit smoking at the same time middle age is creeping up on me, and to my astonishment found myself 40 pounds heavier than I was in my 20s or 30s. So this year I've been working hard to combat the weight, working out daily with wii fit and/or walking and hiking, and following a pretty strict low/no carb diet. So far I've lost 18 pounds since the first of the year. I'd like to lose 20 more.
San Antonio is a lovely city. We have generally mild winters and absolutely glorious weather in spring and fall. Summer brings a few months of intolerably hot weather, and it can be really, really hot. Such that you don't see a soul outside, ever, in July, and exercising outdoors is out of the question. But the mild weather in the rest of the year makes it OK. Right now we are spending every possible moment outdoors. Tonight we had a brisk walk before dinner, then ate dinner out on the patio. Tomorrow we are going for a hike at a local nature park.
We love to travel above all else, and one of my challenges this year will be how to stay on an exercise and diet program while travelling. We are going to Las Vegas on April 7, then to South Lake Tahoe and Napa Valley California in June, and to the mountains in northern New Mexico in July.
My husband and daughter also struggle with weight. My husband has lost 20+pounds this year and is very motivated to lose more. My daughter had weight loss surgery (lap band) at age 19 and lost about 100 pounds.
I like getting to know everyone here, and love how there are people from all over the world. John, it sounds like you have a wonderful life with family and hobbies. Congratulations on your recovery from colon cancer. I think you are absolutely right to want to firm up and keep in shape even if you don't need to lose a lot of weight.
Amy, I love the names you have given to your pups. I bet they are so cute!! It sounds like you have overcome some big challenges and you are still going strong. Way to go!
Karl, your English is magnificent. Remember, we in the US are the absolute worst about learning other languages. I'm always awed by anyone who can speak two or more languages. And you not only speak, but also write in excellent English!! Nicely done! Someday I hope to visit your country, but I am afraid I won't be able to speak your language so well.
