My board is pretty much bang on with my scales and with the scales at my doctor's office. Maybe I'm just lucky. I use it on a hard floor and in the same spot all the time.
If your goal is to lose weight then it will still work. If you take your beginning weight and continue to use the same scale (the board) it will show your weight loss even if the number isn't correct. 5 lbs lost is 5 lbs no matter what the total number on the scale shows. There is also the possibility that your bathroom scale is wrong. I have one of the old dial kind and it has an adjustment wheel on it at the front. It gets off by a few pounds quite often and I need to reset it so when I'm not on it the line is bang on zero again.

Hello everyone.
So I've been weighing on my Wii Fit scale every time I use the system (usually everyday). And it's not so much that my weight jumps from day to day, but from hour to hour. I tend to weigh myself at least twice per session (once prior to my session and once after my session). Recently, I weighed in before my session and was about ten pounds below my normal weight (as reported by my digital scale) but then I weighed in again in the middle of my session (after the balance board had informed me that my weight had changed) and I had gone down nearly fifteen pounds. Now I wish this were true, don't get me wrong, but I know there is no way this is accurate. Dose anyone know what may be causing it?
Also, I use the balance board in the same place every day (it is one a carpeted surface).
Hrm, that's odd. Are you using both the Wii Fit and the bathroom scales in the same place? I assume you are weighing yourself at the same time on both and with the same clothes on.
Is the balance board showing 10lbs lighter or heavier than the scales? If it's lighter, check that there is nothing stuck between the feet and the body of the balance board. I used to use a non-slip mat on mine, but sometimes the straps that kept it in place would get caught around the feet.
It might also be worth double checking that your bathroom scales are accurate, just in case. Load them up with bottles of water or something else where you know the weight and just double check them.
If all that fails and you balance board really is consistently showing the wrong number then I would send it back for a replacement.

Hello Jessica. The balance board would not work properly on a medium or deep-pile carpet or on a carpet with a soft foam back, because the feet of the board will slowly sink in the carpet while you standing on it. When the underside middle of the board reaching the carpet and absorb more and more weight, the feet of the board begin to registered a reduced (less and wrong) weight. The balance board feet are shortish, so you can't using the board proper on a soft surface.
Try the board on a more rigid surface and check the weight again. Maybe some feet extensions will help to using it on the carpet.

The board definitely works best on a hard surface. If anything is touching the bottom of it then it registers less weight. There's really no sense in weighing yourself multiple times a day. The only weight you lose that quickly is from sweat or other body functions. Normal weight can vary by 2 lbs or more just based on time of day. It's best to pick one time of day and always weigh yourself then. Also clothing variation can make a weight difference. If you really want to be accurate strip down before you weigh.
