They are mostly using Wii Sports, with a bit of Wii Fit thrown in. What's interesting is that while the activities themselves help, the main benefit is that they are fun.

Whitworth started his physical therapy about a month ago, using various machines in the rehab room, doing stretching and balancing exercises, and he even worked his way up to walking around the track.
But the most fun of his exercises is his competition with Whitten at Wii bowling. In order to swing, patients must be able to step forward and stand balanced.
I think there is a lesson there for those that criticise Wii Fit and other exercise gaming systems for not being "hard" enough. Perhaps they are not up there with an hour's hard graft in the gym, but they are far more fun, and people are far more likely to actually use them.
