In the winter, the light food that I eat just won't cut it. I need something that sticks to the ribs a bit, particularly this winter, but I'm having problems finding stuff that isn't too high in calories. Anyone have any ideas?

Carrots are good, but not to much (<500g) of them. To much Vitamin A can make problems.
I prefer carrot salad with a bit vegetable oil and a half lemon.

I make a pot roast that works really well because you can buy a very low fat cut of beef, like eye of round, and it still comes out tender. You can use either a crock pot or a deep turkey roaster. Sear the roast first and then add it to the pot with beef broth, onions, salt and pepper and root vegetables. It takes about 3 to 4 hours in a crock pot and about 2 hours in the oven.

I also make a baked zucchini that's very easy and very filling. You slice the zucchini lengthwise in 1/4 inch strips and layer it with basil and tomato sauce and top with a low fat parmesan cheese. You could probably use eggplant instead of zucchini depending on what you have available in your area this time of year.
