I LOVE chocolate covered raisins, and chocolate covered peanuts too. Planters had chocolate covered cashews and almonds for awhile but my grocery store no longer carries them which is a good thing.

I know what you mean! My new diet cuts out most sweets and that's a good thing. My hubby just called from the store to see what I wanted and I couldn't think of a single thing for him to get me.

I was going to babysit for my sons kids. His wife called to see what I wanted for snacks. I told her she could get me a big bunch of seedless grapes. She was flabbergasted. Wanted to know if I was sure I didn't want chips and dip or some other munchies. Nope, just get me some grapes and we'll be fine. I find that having a cup or two of grapes fills me craving for something sweet but the calories are next to nothing and there's lots of good vitamins included.
My wife has been watching reruns of some of the older seasons of The Biggest Loser. I caught a few minutes of it with her yesterday and they were talking about how many calories are in fast food. It completely blew my mind... A burrito has something like 1100 calories in it. (!!!) They went through some other foods like pizza, french fries, cheeseburgers etc and I don't remember all the numbers, but they were really shocking. I don't eat much fast food, expect for some Caribbean grilled chicken. Now I kind of wonder what's really in that... I do eat pizza on (rarer and rarer) occasion too, but I know it's a risk and have reduced the frequency and portion.
Edit: I forgot that another thing they mentioned was fat content. The chef put a blob of shortening on a plate to demonstrate the fat content in, say, an order of french fries. It was such a large amount, you would never eat that. Yet if you eat the fries that's basically what you are doing. It was pretty gross!! Really gave me a new perspective on the horrors of fast food...
I Know the fats, cholesterol, calories and salt present in fast food and junk food. They also difficult ti digest. Therefore getting problem with metabolism.

When I go off track it tends to be carbs: biscuits, bread, toast. I'm trying to balance things so that I get enough carbs to stop the energy slumps which have me reaching for the biscuit tin, but not so much that I bloat from too much carb. I'm a lifelong label reader. Thing is, without my reading glasses I can't see tiny print, I have my children read the labels now !
