Correct, the human brain uses something around 20-25% of the calories you burn, it is by far the most expensive organ in the body.

Interestingly, watching TV actually consumes fewer calories than doing nothing :) The act of passively watching something actually slows the heart rate even more than just sitting on the sofa doing nothing.

If you brain running more that looking TV (and that's looking at most programs quite easy ;) ), yes.

The heating of the body need the most of the calorie intake. It's the greatest part of the basal metabolic rate. So sitting on a cold place burn more calories then medium movement on a warm or hot place. But there is a disadvantage, because the body will start rebuild muscles to fat for better isolating. :!:
Doing medium moving with the hole set of muscles in a not to warm place is simply the best. Swimming with different styles doing this job quite well. :D

Hello neighbour ;) Most from books, also from lectures but nothing from TV.
A lot of interesting informations came from "Udo Pollmer" but only in German language.

And now some completely different: The street where I live was named after a man that was "a chief the Māori" in honour.

I do 30 min of wii fit a day and I've found that the easiest thing for me is to swap my games regularly. There are enough activities that you don't have to do the same thing every day and that helps. One of the best workouts I get it on the Chicken flight on Expert level. It's much much longer than the two previous levels and it allows for more aimless travel, much like free cycling. I also tend to do a lot of skateboarding, hula hoop (this is not as hard as everyone thinks, just go slow and try to make your circles as even as possible.) and jogging. On jogging, I played the jogging with the memory test for a while and when I got to the very end I went back to the regular jogging. I discovered that all the cats I had 'found' in the memory version were now running around the regular jogging course. More options for anyone who's interested.

I'd like to add another vote for Sports Resort to anyone that's considering it. After my wii fit workout, if I haven't had any other workouts that day, I do at least another 20 minutes of another game with a lot of motion. I use sports resort a lot in that segment. My normal routine for sports resort is Sword fighting, frisbee or wakeboarding (cooldown), basketball, canoe or cycling, golf or bowling (cool down) maybe one of the remaining games if I feel I could work on my hand/eye coordination. And then lastly I fire up the airplane. I originally played this the way the directions say... sitting on the sofa. Then one day I saw my friend's kid running around the house with her arms out making airplane noises and it hit me. I was wasting a perfectly good muscle workout here; What you want to do is stand in front of the TV with your arms out just below shoulder level to star. I hold a 'dead' wiimote in my left hand as a weight, and basically you fly around the island by tilting your body and arms rather than your wrist. 5 straight minutes of this and you'll be hoping you crash just so you can rest your muscles.
