Hi, I wanted to introduce myself properly instead of just lurking in the background. =)
I got the wii fit board for christmas and today will be day 31 of using it every day for at least 30 minutes, but lately i have increased to hour and change. So far I have LOST 8lbs wooo hooo!
I am having a blast doing it, and almost immediately felt good benefits, increased energy, better mood ( i live on the east coast and right now the weather is yucky so doing anything outside is right now not really an option for me.)
I was struggling with the weight loss until i read the calorie intake post, and thought DUH, the lightbulb went off over my head, I adjusted my diet and wham the next day saw the benefit of all my hard work. Thank you thank you thank you this forum is such a fabulous resource i am so thankful i found it.

Welcome Jaz!
Glad it is going well for you! I lose weight much more slowly. And right now I am looking at the last piece of cheesecake trying to convince myself that it is not for me.
I need to figure out just what I can and cannot eat in my old age, and it is hard for me to add calorie counting in to my other dietary considerations. Or I just don't want to, I guess, because I have other restrictions that are no fun. But I am eternally grateful to Wii for getting me to finally enjoy exercise and to stick with it.
Keep a going!

Once you start losing the weight it is addicting, I have been doing an hour a day since December 16th of last year and so far I have lost 14lbs. When I bought the Wii Fit I wasn't really expecting anything much, but it has really made me take a good hard look at my life in general. I was almost at 6,000 calorories a day before, and now I am staying right around 2,000-2,500 calories. You will notice feeling better as well, mentally it makes you smile.

kescah, I am right there with you girl!
I got Wii Fit+ just after Christmas and have lost 10 lbs BUT I have had to work my tush off.
I am a 57 year old female and my metabolism is slooooow. Most days I have been passing the 3 hour total fitness credits that are allowed. Most days I end up doing 60 to 90 minutes of cycling alone.
I have reduced my calorie intake to around 1100 calories per day.
I seem to have this invisible barrier at 200 lbs. I just can't seem to get past. Thanks to Wii Fit+ and you guys I am still moving forward.
Some days I just get pissed off because I have had to make so many changes in my life. (drinking, smoking, no sugar, no meat, no soft drinks, no artificial sweetners, etc.
Oh well, I just keep telling myself that nothing tastes as good as thin feels!
I love you guys...

Be careful with reducing your calorie intake that low. There's a point where your body will decide that you are starving and start trying to save everything. Your metabolism will slow to nothing and you risk making yourself ill. I'm 52, 5'2" and 119 lbs. To maintain that weight I need to eat approx 1500 calories a day with my exercise level.
http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm This is a great site to check and see what you need. If you are trying to lose enter the weight you want to be with all your info and see what caloric intake you need to aim for. If you seriously want to get some exercise that will burn fat quicker, get EA Sports Active More Workouts. You can burn off as many calories in a half hour doing it as you will in 3 hours doing Wii Fit stuff. Don't get me wrong, I like Wii Fit and use it for mild exercise and fun but it really isn't a "workout".

Thanks for the advice. After reading some of the rave reviews, I am now considering EASports Active.
I do have to add that not everybody's body responds the same. I am 57 years old and I weigh today (200lbs.)the same as I did when I was 14 years old. I have been as high as 255 lbs and as low as 110 lbs.I have lost and gained hundreds of pounds in my lifetime. Unfortunately, I am no stranger to the routine. I also have thyroid problems (that I take medication for) that does not make life easier.
My metabolism IS SLOW. When I eat 1500 to 2000 calories a day, even at 200 lbs., I gain weight. I have always been active in sports and such, but if I do not continue to eat very low cals - I gain weight. I once quipped - "what do you expect from genes that survived the Irish potato famine"...
It has taken me a lifetime to accept the fact that my body responds differently and that is just life. If I want to be at a healthier weight, I need to increase my activity level and reduce my calorie intake to the levels that my body responds to.
I only wish I could eat like some people get away with...

I think realizing that we are all individuals and that our bodies are different is really important in learning to control your weight.
We are bought up in a one-size-fits-all society where we all eat the same kinds of meals, of roughly the same size, and at the same times, when in reality everyone's body is different.
I'm like you, I can happily survive on on about 1700 calories a day, with is a lot less than the recommended intake for a bloke of my age. Of course a lot of that has to do with the fact that I spend most of my day sat at a desk.
However it's taken a while to train my brain to realize that this is actually plenty for me, and to stop eating

Cd1, three hours a day, I am so jealous. We have a "snow day" here in CT and I'll be working from home tomorrow but that means I can spend more time on the Wii than normal, at least all my commuting time, and as I normally drive to see clients once or twice a day that should add at least an hour and a half to my routine. Though the most I have lost since starting Wii 82 days ago is 10 pounds this week I've had a slight problem with all my pants being a little loose, a problem I've been looking forward to I must say. I'm hoping to loose a little more weight before I go shopping for new pants. I might rather spend that money on EA Sports More Workouts, then I might be able to go down two sizes on my shopping trip.
