I recently purchased the Wii Fit battery pak put out by Mad Katz. I opened the package, read the directions, then proceeded to follow them. I plugged it into the balance board and hit the power button and nothing happened? Isn't it supposed to come partially charged? Well I gave up on that. I attempted to charge the darn thing overnight and still same thing it won't even turn on my balance board. I try regular batteries and the balance board will work. My father has a circuit meter and we hooked that up to the battery pak and we are only getting 1.45 volts out of the battery pak. His suggestion to me is that I got a bad battery pak....Is that possible? I see online that there is one put out by NYCO company. Is that one any better? I see pretty crappy reviews online of each. There has got to be something more than just going through batteries all the time..Thanks!

Have you tried getting a long battery recharger - one that supports eight or so batteries like this random example from Amazon? Couple that with sixteen rechargeable batteries and you're good to go!

Thank you for replying. Yeah I don't think that I'm going to try another battery pak. I'll just have to get a battery charger like you have suggested and keep charging batteries.. THANKS!
I have the Nyko battery pack for my board and for 2 of my controllers and they work very well. I get at least a week out of both without needing charged. The one for the board has a really long cord so it's easy to plug it right into the console while the board is on the floor.

I have Mad Katz battery pack for wiimotes (one that comes with inductive charger) - and I think their Wii Fit battery pack is no better than this.
But on the actual topic, for my Balance Board, due to my disappointment with wiimote charger, I've decided to buy casual (from licensed retailer) 4 pack of Sony 2700 mAh (with charger) - and they work really well, so far I've charged them only twice (first time after they were bought (as they come discharged)), and I've been playing using them for 43 days so far (I've registered 4 players, of which I play most, and I recently got the Bronze piggy bank). Also, I've never had this "connection lost" message with my balance board (such thing happened few times for wiimote).

I do the same thing. I have so many gadgets that take AAs that I just have a large collection of rechargeables. I make sure I have at least two spare and already charged so I'm never without charged batteries.
Not only is it cheaper in the long run, but it's good for the environment. All those batteries that end up in landfill are not good.
Also, over time all rechargeable batteries degrade (over hundreds of charges). With the custom chargers you get left with a worthless charger that you can't use anything else. I just recycle my occasional dud rechargeable AAs and buy a couple of new ones.
