I can't remember where I read it, but somebody suggested riding over the top of hump rock (from the left side) on your way up to the castle. I kept looking at it and wondering how it was possible, but I finally tried it and it worked! And it was so much fun! Made me feel like a little kid again.
I know it sounds silly, but everyone should try this, if they haven't already.

Sometimes I ride around on that rock just to kill time near the end of my ride since I like to end there next to it.

Do you mean riding straight up the (nearly vertical) slope on the end of the rock facing away from the castle?
Or do you mean the trick of skimming along the side of the rock between it and the lake ("pedalling like you're on fire" was how I described it)?
I definitely meant skimming along the side of the rock between it and the lake going towards the castle... I admit I have tried this in reverse and always plummet into the lake.

ggg
Ah, going from the castle, you can just ride straight over the top of the rock. You have to pedal fairly hard, but the slope is not so steep that it blocks you.
