Ok, so I'm new at posting on this site. I have decided enough is enough and I am in control of what I do with my life. I thought maybe my "talking" to you and telling you my "baby steps" to losing weight, it would keep me accountable. I don't know if anyone reads this stuff, but I going on the belief others are in the same boat. I started using the Wii Fit again after ...sigh...a 248 day break. can't fool a computer! I have committed to start out using the Wii Fit 1 hour a week....I know before you say that won't make a difference, I want to set myself up for success. I also committed to losing 1 pound in 2 weeks, once again not a huge committment, but I've learned a very valuable tool a few years ago, baby steps will get you to where you want to be. So I am putting myself on notice, now is the time to make a change for ME!!! So here are my goals: 1) Accumulate 60 minutes of Wii Time for this week - ending 6 Nov 09 - so far I have 20 minutes logged. 2) Toss away 1 pound by 18 November. 3) Log on to this site once a week to up date progress. 4) Start journaling again, and not necessarily about wiing, is that a word??? Just about life, keeps me in check. I used to do it and it was nice to at least get it out, not keep it in. Probably not the best time of the year to start this, but if I don't there's always something in the way...so here I go on the journey. We'll see what I do. Thanks for "listening"! Bre
Congratulations on making the decision to look after yourself! I think your goal of 1 pound every two weeks sounds attainable and sensible, especially given the amount of time you'll be able to use the Wii Fit for. Something important to remember is not to pay too much attention to your day-to-day weight reading - I try to ignore it as much as possible (although I am somewhat suceptible to the chirpy thing telling me I've lost weight... and suceptible to the dratted thing telling me I've put on weight ).
Which of the activities do you like doing best? Which ones 'should' you be doing, but find too hard?
"baby steps" is exactly what you want to be doing. Too many people set themselves up for failure by setting unrealistic targets, not helped by all those adverts for "dropping a dress size in a week", "lose 12lbs in just one week!" type diets.
In fact, is it me or are half the adverts on Facebook etc all these unrealistic con diets? It makes me mad knowing how many people are getting drawn into these sham diets and dodgy weight-loss pills.
"baby steps will get you to where you want to be" should be this site's motto It sums up exactly how you should go about losing weight. Love it. Half a pound a week is exactly the sort of target your want to be setting. Slow, steady, and in it for the long term is the way to do it if you want to lose it in a healthy way and keep it off. None of this crash diet nonsense.
I seem to drag this out every time someone new joins, but here is my weight over the last ten months, going from 109.5kg (241lb) to about 90.5kg (199lb), that's a bit under a pound a week (although things have slowed recently). But the important thing is not how fast you get there, but that you stick with it.
The yellow line is my weight, the blue is my current target and the red is a rolling average. As you can see, it bounces around a fair bit, but it keeps going in roughly the right direction, most of the time anyway
Yes, people read this forum. I joined the forum since I had no support group to help me at home and a forum is always a nice place to share and get support.
Good luck on the goals, I'm looking forward to see another Wii Fit success story. Keep us posted please.
