Ok, so I've become a frequent visitor of this forum and I have taken the advice I've read. I've worked out using Wii Fit Plus following routines, changing my diet, and pacing myself since I have had two ACL replacements. I lost 5 pounds on Wii Fit in a month so I grew frustrated and decided to up my work out to EA Sports Active which I read that people said was helpful. I mean people say they lost five ten pounds on the thirty day challenge. Freaking awesome, I thought I could so do this.
However, after day two, I think I need to replace every body part I have.
I have to tell you the truth though... I was really cocky programming Sports Active. I mean, I can do an hour and half on Wii Fit. I can run the thirty minutes and step. I can do the rhythm boxing for twenty minutes. Hell, I used to be an athlete I assumed I could handle this. I thought I was hot stuff. So stupid me opted for the medium 30 day challenge.
So it started ok, I did day one and the first five to ten minutes I was alive until suddenly my shoulders decided oh no, no more. And then the sweat poured, I was panting, it as just not pretty. But it gets worse, I decided that I needed to do an hour on EA Active. Bad move.
Can I recommend no one start the program the day before you start a new job? Sitting for eight hours with aching thighs and my abs was not a great way to begin a new job. You sit and smile trying to retain information about this new position and all you want to do is to lay on the floor and whimper alot.
I thought after one day I'd magically lose weight. Nope, gained.
Being a 30 day program I did it again tonight- I'm going to show this damn technology that I can do it no matter what. Now, I hurt. OMG do I hurt. I thought after finishing "yay I managed not to have a heart attack or break a leg" but then I collapsed onto the couch and refused to move for fear the trainer would pop up and make me do more kick ups at high speed.
Needless to say I think I jumped the gun and I should have done easy. I know I can change it but that would damage my ego to change it more than the Wii Fit when yells Obese at me and makes my Mii look like Shamu, the whale. I'll do this at medium but when I stop posting, it probably means I'm on my living room floor waiting for my muscles to stop picketing around my limp body, demanding freedom from the Trainer whom I have named Marge.

You mean you wish you can't feel your thighs! I bet you can feel every inch of them. I did the same thing when I started EA Active. I had this illusion I was in pretty good shape. I did break down and move it back to easy and I'm glad I did. I still ached but it gave my muscles a chance to build up a bit. Interesting thing about working out like that. Everyone expects instant weight loss. When you torment muscles like that they retain fluid to help themselves heal so you often gain a few pounds. A lot of people get discouraged and give up but once your muscle starts to build and get used to the exercise those extra water pounds will go again.

Also you need to burn or reduce 3500 calories to lose one pound of fat so just doing exercise usually won't lead to huge weight loss for most people. You need to combine a lower calorie diet with your exercise to get the real effect. Exercise will help boost your metabolism to burn fat and tone up your body but unless you want to devote 24/7 to exercise you won't see huge loss.

Hi Cosmo;
If you live alone please post your contact information so that if we don't hear from you we can send help, LOL. After reading your post I will make sure that when I get my EA Sports More Workouts that I start out with the easy 30 day workout. I give you credit for sticking with medium. Also, in case you are using the board on carpet rather than a bare floor please know that the weigh in can be unreliable depending on where you place it. I have to move my board during parts of the workout and it almost always tells me my weight is different. Congratulations on your new job!!
