This may seem like a silly question, but I am really curious about everyone's pacing. I was reading the instructions for Island Cycling and it actually says that you are not supposed to lift your feet off the balance board! I not only lift my feet, but I go very fast.
So... here is my question...
How fast do you move your feet in Island Cycling?
I realize that is a tough question to answer on a message board, so here are 2 songs... which of these songs is closer to your pedaling pace?

I would say B is closer. I go as fast as I can and you will see blue lines coming off the bike. If you go too fast a message will tell you to slow down a bit because it can't register your steps. It takes a while but you can get pretty steady at it with practise.

I forgot to mention that I am closer to "B" as well. I have only had it tell me to slow down once, but sometimes I feel like I am practically running.

I'd say to go as fast as you can without getting the slowdown punishment.

There is a tutorial that starts when you start cycling. A graphic distinctly shows the feet being lifted off of the board.
I pedal at a pretty good pace. Certainly faster than Yellow Submarine. This old geezer doesn't know the other song.
If you pedal with your toes hanging off of the front of the board, you will get top speed without penalty as the board senses your weight being forward.
I only slow down for U turns, tight maneuvers , steel ramp (slightly) and (oddly enough) climbing steep hills.

I was really just trying to see if generally everyone goes slower or faster. I go fast and like going fast because I like working up a sweat and burning calories. But I don't think the METS rating of 2.5 is accurate for a pace that is closer to "B". Especially if you compare the METS rating for other Wii fit games.
Also, I was talking to a woman at work who said she does the island cycling but really just "moseys along". It just made me wonder...

I read this suggestion from you somewhere else. I actually tried it but it doesn't work for me. I admit, though, that I have to wear footwear while doing island cycling because my foot muscles/arches get strained if I try to do it barefoot. I can do almost all the other exercises barefoot, but not this one, probably because I go for SO long and I do have some extra weight on my body.
I tried wearing sneakers, but that does not work at all - too clunky - impossible to control movements. So I wear a pair of NAOT arch support sandals that work perfectly.
