For anyone that is using Island View level, I discovered a shortcut which reduced my distance dramatically.

I always do the Island View course clockwise, but at the beginning I launch across the river and immediately cross back over the bridge to begin my clockwise route. I have always done that and it seems to work well. However in my original route, towards the end, I used to cross the red iron bridge, veer right to grab the flag under the brick wall outside downtown, and then go towards the docks to grab the last flags within the city. What always was troubling is that before you cross the red iron bridge you have to go out of your way to grab one last flag that is just below the S-ledge.

In my new route, I don't cross the red-iron bridge. Instead, I grab the flag just in front of the bridge first, then veer right and get that flag at the base of the S-ledge. Then I point towards the city buildings and head towards the river. There is a launcher there, fairly close to the bridge, and when you land on the other side, you are practically right in front of the flag on the outer wall of the city. Then I just have the last 3 before I launch across the finish line. This shortcut shaved almost 1/3 of a mile off my distance!

Ok, well, today I tried this exact route in reverse and beat my shortcut score! So, try the above route exactly backwards - its awesome!

What distance are you getting? I am getting 3.2 on your route (miles)

Before (in my original route) I was achieving between 3 - 3.2 miles.

My lowest distance on this newest route (going in reverse) is 2.83 miles. I only achieved that once, but my distance is consistently less than 3 miles now.

I am about 2.75 (miles) using a variation of the route on the numbered flag map. I just picked up a few more and changed the order of 2 flags.

Please share your 2.75 route!

I reverse 20 and 21 as well. I shoot the pet at 20 after hitting 21. Then I follow the rest of the flags.

Hmmm... this is the route map I used to follow that got me the longest distances - well over 3 miles. I will have to try again to see how you get 2.75 miles with this route.

It just seems that going clockwise around the island creates a lot of backtracking to catch certain flags (like getting from 10 to 11). But when I go counterclockwise I don't have to cover any ground more than once. We are only .07 miles apart, which is pretty close, but I can't seem to get that short a distance using this order on this map!

My shortest route (now 2.82) is as follows (using the flag #s on this map):
3, 4, 2, 1, ramp to 23, shoot pet to 22, 21, 20, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 26, 25, shoot pet to 24, 27, Finish.

There is no 28! You have probably mistaken 28 for 26. I just use the pet tons to get 2.75 miles on the map route.
