Firstly Hi, im fred 19 from the west-midlands,
Iv decided as my weight is constantly up and down i need to create a stable diet plan and loss about a stone in weight, hopefully tone up along the way,
After quite abit of research on here and other websites i decided to order
Morning - Shake with water Snack - Nuts & also take grenade Workout Lunch - Can of tuna / or scrambled egs on wholemeal bread Snack - Fruit Finish day with a shake mixed with skimmed milk
i am now trying to plan a workout for each day to exercise different muscle groups which i will post on here when i have finished, currently im going to do 45mins Xtrainer everyday prior to weight training exercise.
Any help, info, changes and workout schedules would be of help to me. I know the plan is rather basic but all this planning and strict dieting is new to me,
This is probably not what you want to hear but those diets involving shakes and diet bars etc rarely work. You'll be so sick of it after a few weeks that you'll end up going off it and it really doesn't teach you anything about eating a healthy way. I'm supposing you don't want to spend the rest of your life on diet shakes and tuna so I some point you need to find a healthy food intake that you can live with and be the weight you want to be.
You have to remember that you didn't gain weight in a couple of weeks and getting it off needs to be done in a healthy way that doesn't stress your body. Taking in too few calories will actually cause your body to go into a starvation mode where it tries to save every bit in order for survival. It really screws up you metabolism and can cause you many problems down the road.

I agree with mokey41. Not only are diets involving shakes and bars not likely to work, but they are expensive. It is far easier and cheaper to modify the amount of ordinary food you are eating.
The best way to go about this is to keep a journal of everything you eat each day, with the amount of calories everything contains. Compare this to the amount of exercise and other activity that you do. Then modify the amount of food you eat, eliminating anything really caloric.
One good way I have found, by the way, of monitoring my overall daily activity is to wear a pedometer at all times. It doesn't catch the activity when I am just standing, but it does give me a general idea of how much moving around I am doing. There's an app for the iPhone that does this as well.
Let us know how things go.
