Leapfrog, the kids educational toy company are set to jump on the fitness game bandwagon with the Zippety "high-energy learning system", co-developed with Disney.
The system doesn't need a games console, comes with both a dance mat and a "bopper" (a kind of giant joystick). It looks like an entertaining way of getting kids active, but I can't help thinking that this is overkill for getting a 5 year-old to move around. The default behaviour of all the small kids I know is to run around constantly, most of them have problems staying still!
So, not a bad thing as an alternative to sitting in front of the TV (as an increasing number of small kids are), and at $79.99 it won't break the bank, but I can't help thinking there are easier ways to get kids active.
