It looks like he's taking a more conciliatory approach now, suggesting a set of improvements which on reading them are not unreasonable. Additional instruction on how to do the games properly, both in the manual (I can't actually remember reading my copy...) and online, and age specific settings for the young and the old seem like sensible ideas.
However, to me there still seems to be too much "listen to me" going on here. Nintendo have already announced that they are planning such things, and have a team of health experts in place to start it. Torchia seems to think very highly of himself (he is a talk radio host, so that goes with the territory) and seems to think that Nintendo should be talking specifically to him, as if he is the only one who understands health and fitness.
Considering some of the things he said about the Wii Fit and gaming in general, I can't help thinking that this new softer tone is a response to a lot of negative press he will have had regarding this story.
