Yes, I've used WiiFit Plus for over 400 days, never missing one day, but the WiiBoard character didn't even celebrate my year's anniversary. The program seriously needs more rewards to encourage dedicated users. Not just a mention by the WiiBoard character, either, but thinks like new levels unlocked or the doors for the cycling stuff to open, or something.
I think what is happening is that WiiFit users are being treated as 'casual gamers'. I've seen and heard this term quite a bit when someone is comparing the users of WiiFit with say, someone who plays Halo, that is someone who is called - and calls himself - a 'hardcore gamer'.
Well, I may not be a 'hardcore gamer', whatever that means, but I am hardly a casual one, either. I am motivated enough to use WiiFit every single day. There are others on this board who are also so motivated; maybe they don't use it every day, but they keep up with it every week as part of their exercise routine. Dedicated users should be taken much more seriously. We should be encouraged, rewarded, lauded, and, above all, listened to.
I think that this is the most significant thing that is missing from WiiFit. Perhaps we should all get together and write to Nintendo about it. Certainly I can and will write to them, but the more people they hear from, the better.

This topic has been at the heart of my problems with gaming over the last decade. A "hardcore gamer" is defined as someone who's primary preference in personal entertainment is video gaming. Traditionally they are people who spend more time in a week with a controler in their hand than a TV remote. They normally buy games on release days and their preferences tend to dictate game development.
By all definitions of the word, save one, I've been a "Hardcore gamer" for nearly 20 years now. The exception is that my game preferences are not dictating development. Because I don't fit the hardcore demographic I often don't even qualify for game marketing surveys. It's been a point of contention for me for years.
I think game developers are struggling with the concept that there is just as much money to be made from gamers who are not 25 year old males that like Halo. I've been on a mission for years to get that across to anyone who will listen for years.
If you're on this forum then clearly you're serious about this genera of game so I'd like to encourage you to join club.nintendo.com and register all your Nintendo products. Nintendo seems to be genuinely interested in the opinion of customers who don't fall into the normal gamer demographic so if we provide them the information there's a better chance we'll see more of what we want in the future.

Thanks for pointing out club nintendo to me. I'll join this weekend when I have time to look at the site properly.
Thank you as well for the defintion of 'hardcore gamer'. I think 'dedicated gamer' suits me best, because although I don't watch much television - typically about half an hour a night on week days and none on weekends - my primary preference in personal entertainment is reading, particularly, these days, manga.
The one TV programme I watch every night - save the nights I go to jujitsu now - is about primarily about video games, although there is some content about manga and anime. It's brought home to me just how many games out there don't do anything for me at all. And I do play more than just WiiFit games; I also play an on-line game called 'Guild Wars'.
I have noticed through playing 'Guild Wars', that I, as an older player, have a very different style of playing than the younger players that make up the majority in the game. I am far more analytical about how I play. I don't just barge in and try to fight everything; I try to find ways round obvious danger points. For instance, recently I found a way to kill a tough creature that means the player trying it is in *zero* danger. I'm surprised that no-one else had thought of it before, but it wasn't in the wiki. That sort of thing. It's the sort of analysis that is common on this board with all the different routes for the cycling games, etc.
Yes, we all definitely need to get together to let Nintendo and other game companies know what players outside the noram gamer demographic want.
Thanks again.
