Hi everyone, I've had the wii fit for a few months now, but haven't really been doing it as often as I intended - I tend to have a week or two doing really well then I leave it for a few weeks. However yesterday I got the wii fit plus game and I really want to start doing it more regularly - when I started a few months ago I was just over 13 stone, now I'm 11st 8 which is in the right direction but I really want to start working harder and lose some of this padding! I haven't tried out all the new stuff on the Plus game yet, but it looks pretty good so far. I'm already in love with the cycling though I've only tried it a few times on the lowest level but I know I'll enjoy that one. I've always like the step games too, which brings me to my first question - does anyone have the riser that I've seen advertised around? I'm a bit wary of buying something which isn't licensed by Nintendo, I'm worried I may damage my balance board or that it's not sturdy enough - does anyone have any information on how good it is? I did wonder about purchasing a proper aerobics step that was bigger than the balance board then placing the board on top of that, I thought it might be sturdier (bearing in mind I'm still heavy). And the other thing I wanted people's opinions on is the jogging - I'm OK with keeping an even rhythm (I hold the remote in my hand), but I can never get the speed right. I wondered does anyone know a song or something with a good beat that fits in with what the wii asks for? (Or, if there are any musicians in the house, a metronome setting would be just as useful lol). The game tells me to run at 60% to get best effect, yet it tells me off if I overtake my guide and I only seem to hit around 40% if I don't overtake. I have no way of knowing the best pace to run at, it seems to tell me off no matter what speed I do All suggestions on that one welcome, because I know the jogging's a good fat burner but it really puts me off to keep getting just one or two stars - I don't like being told off when I'm trying hard!
Does anyone else use the Wii Sports game as a warm up? I always play a few games of bowling and then a few of tennis before I start on the wii fit, great fun!

After cycling for awhile I decided to try the jogging game but find it boring as you have to follow your pet. If you do it enough you will open a free run which lets you run at your pace just listening to your Wii. You can switch your TV over to watch TV and just jog while watching something and switch back when you want to quit. I found i boring and will go back to cycling where there are some challenges and competitions going on (see tips and cheats in this forum) Gives me more incentive to keep going though I will continue to investigate other games etc, there is a lot to do in this package and I am otften finding new and interesting things to do. Good Luck!!

I have the risers from Everlast and use it with the step aerobics portion of EA Sports Active More Workouts. It's very sturdy and has little indentations for the legs of the board to sit in so it's not going to move or slip off. It really adds a bit of extra "umph" to a workout.
I find the jogging extremely boring but my burn rate is usually in the 150% to 200% range. I'm not sure on the first level but later levels I just run past my guide and a pet will usually take you along. The cycling is fun but only because we have a competition going on here with who can find flags fastest or who can cycle the farthest in 30 minutes.
Fit Plus is fun and you can burn some calories but if you really want a workout give either EA Sports Active Personal Trainer or More Workouts a try. It's more like a gym workout and you can use your balance board on some of the exercises. I really recommend it for someone serious about getting fit and toned up.
Definitely agree on the EA Sports Active, especially "More Workouts".
However Wii Fit Plus is great for getting started and easing yourself into exercising, and it's also good for those days when you don't feel like doing a more traditional workout and fancy some fun.
I also use Wii Fit Plus for yoga workouts on the days I'm not using EA Sports Active.
Hey thanks, I didn't realise it was OK to run past your guide! I'll try that next time and see what happens.
Yes I've seen a lot of talk on this forum about the EA games being a better workout, I'll have a look at those perhaps in a couple of weeks. I do find the wii fit sometimes doesn't leave me feeling as though I've done anything, so it would be good to have something extra to do when that happens - although I have to admit sometimes I do a few games and I'm exhausted! I guess it depends how I feel on the day and how much I keep it up.
I think I need to learn my way around the cycling routes a bit better before I start competing with you all here. I had my first try of the 22-flag course earlier on today, and I took almost half an hour to finish! I was cycling at an OK speed throughout, I just kept taking loads of wrong turns and couldn't find 2 flags so it took ages The wii kept saying "If you want to quit, press B" but I was determined to find them all! I think it said I did 12km in the end, oh dear... still, at least I was moving for most of that time which is the main thing!
I think we all started out cycling in circles looking for the last few flags. It was actually more fun for me when I didn't know how to get to them all. I remember having some horribly long rides that went on and on because I was determined to find that last flag and being really excited when I finally got it.
I like Fit as a game that involves movement. Much better than sitting playing Mario Kart. I like the EA Active games for toning up and cardio fitness. I also enjoy playing tennis in the Wii Sports or doing some boxing. A variety of activities keeps me interested and helps me with overall fitness.

I agree, we all pedalled for a long time to find that last @$$##% flag. Once we had them all we had to remember them and determine the best route for speed. Now we try to find cheats and improvements, but it is getting harder so sometimes I just sightsee.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one having beginner's trouble with the cycling!
Mokey I like the Sports tennis too, I always play a few sets before going on wii fit. Actually I find that the training games like target practice seem to make me move around a bit more than playing the full game, so I usually have a few rounds of that too.
My son loves all the training things on Wii Sports. I think he plays that more than anything. He says he likes the challenge. We got them the Wii Fit Plus for Xmas and his 2 & 5 yr old love it. They like so cycle and he steers for them. The 2 yr old does better on the Penguin slide than I can. It's great to watch them playing.

Hello! I'm Pam and I live near Atlanta. I just got the Wii Fit Plus a couple weeks ago and I love it. I have some hip and knee issues and my physical therapist recommended it. Right now I'm mostly doing hula hoop or island cycling as a warm up, and then I have a custom routine I put together. I mostly do the yoga and strength exercises that involve balancing on one foot. These are the ones my PT said would benefit me the most. I am finding it fun and easy to do, and I can tell it's working the right muscles for me.
My only complaint so far is that I can't find good instructions for the various games. The booklet that came with teh software really doesn't tell you much. On island cycling I didn't know you could ring a bell or that the pets could be anything more than an annoyance until I started browsing this forum. Does anyone know where I can find more complete instructions for the various activites?
Thanks!
Pam
