I recently purchased a Wii console just 3 nights ago. Have been using it everyday since then.
I purchased it mainly to increase my daily exercise routine, and to lose weight while having fun.
Let's face it, mother nature ruins many exercise days. Whether the weather is too hot/cold, rainy/humid, or some other excuse to not go outside to exercise.

I have been doing 3 - 4 hours a day/night throughout the day. With the exception of the first night, I think I got 1 hour in Wii Sports with my mother, and 1 hour of Wii Sports/Wii Resort by myself.
The second day was tough, mainly due to my body aching from the well needed workout, that it had been long deprived of. Now it is a breeze to go through 3hours a day. Though I do take breaks every once in a while.

At the moment I only have Wii Sports / Wii Sports Resort, since they came with the Wii. However once finished moving next week. Probably going to pick up Wii Fit, and maybe NFL Training. (Not Sure of correct name.) To step up the workouts. Since Wii Sports/Resort won't be enough of a work out.

On Wii Sports I do every activity that is given, except golf... I just don't care much for the golf. My favorites on Wii Sports would have to be, Tennis, Baseball, Boxing, and then Bowling. I do my age test everyday, the first might it was 66, then 33, then 29, and now it's 28 I believe. I unlocked all of the training modes, and play them throughout the day. Sometimes I choose 4 player on 1 remote to have a continuous workout. On Wii Sports resort I have tried all of them, but have chosen some favorites. I like the sword fighting when I win, however I'm leveled up high so it's hard. My favorite is cycling, it makes me sweat more than any other one. I have the 6 (whatever its called) mode unlocked. So I can do a straight 16 minute race without waiting. The rest are ok to play, and I'll throw them in to the game whenever I need a break, but don't want to sit down. When I play, I usually pretend that I'm there playing the game, so I do the actions as if I would be there playing it.

Now for the information about me, not mii. I am 6'3.5" and 250lbs, thought I was 255lbs - 260lbs. Though last time I was weighed was months ago. I would like to lose 35 - 50lbs in 3 - 6 months. On top of the Wii workouts, I have planned a calorie reduced meal plan. So far its good, enough calories compared to what I am supposed to have daily. And it keeps me full, hopefully once moved, it can be made even better. I will be weighing myself every Friday in order to keep an update on how much I have lost weekly. Hopefully a few pounds a week, to help me reach my August/September timeframe in time for college.

To help me keep track of my information, I am using an iPad app I have to keep all of my data down. Hopefully I get crazy and obsessed with keeping the information daily to help me lose weight. The app is called: "Calorie Counter" and is free. It has a food diary, exercise diary, diet calendar, and allows you to put your weight to see your graph. The food diary allows you to search any food you ate throughout the day, and compares it to your exercise. Before the Wii I usually just slept, relaxed in bed most of the day, and randomly got up to eat/use the rest room/etc. Now I feel better, and more energized to play Wii most of the day. Until I lose enough weight so I don't feel self-conscience about working out at the gym/running around town.

I will probably check up on this every week or month. Hopefully I can keep at this daily routine, any ideas to keep me motivated? So far I am motivated and energized enough to do it for hours a day.

Welcome to the forum. It's great to see how motivated you are.

It sounds as if you have the diet and exercise stuff down fairly well at the moment. You might also wish to make sure that you get enough sleep. Also, make sure that you are getting enough Vitamin D: if you don't go outdoors very much, then you should take supplements.

You should also start thinking about how you will maintain your exercise schedule after you have gone to university. The best thing for you to do is gradually change the amount of exercise you do about a month and a half before going to university. You will probably have to change how you eat to take account of the exercise change, and this would be a good time for you to figure out what sort of food you will be eating at university and how to avoid picking up bad eating habits there.

If you start getting tired of your current routine, of course, if you have the money to spare, you can always buy another game. Have a look in the review section here for games that might take your fancy. I currently play Step to the Beat (aka Walk It Out) in addition to my time using WiiFit plus; unfortunately, the game is very difficult to obtain these days but you might be able to find it on eBay. Red Steel II isn't bad, either, and it has a story attached to it that can keep up your interest.

You definitely should pick up WiiFit Plus. As you can tell from reading the posts on this forum, it has inspired many people to get more exercise. As befits my name, I use it to jog every day. As you pointed out, it means I can exercise no matter what the weather is, and, besides, I have never liked jogging on the pavement.

If you can, please write a longer review of the Calorie Counter app you have. Is the version just for the IPad or is there an IPod version? The reason I ask is that I have an IPod and am using it to help me manage my exercise and sleep. I've put the reviews up on the forum if you are interested.

Keep checking back on this forum and keep telling us about your progress. Seeing what others are doing and letting them know how you are doing are great motivators.

Again, welcome to the forum.
