New user with setup problem

Hello. This is my first post. I have just got a wii fit and am trying to set it up but when I get to the console nickname there is no keyboard displayed on screen to select the letters from. Help please. What have I done wrong. I can't find anything in the manuals I have about this. Thanks

if you use your wiimote to click on the box the keyboard should pop up on the screen.
