Hello everyone, my name is Debbie, I am soon to be 50 (August), I am married, have two grown, married children, one 5 month old grandson, two dogs, two cats, one bird and one hamster. Yes, I love animals!
I work at home as a medical transcriptionist which keeps me on my butt all the time. I also love to eat which is a dangerous combination with my type of work. I have just ordered my Wii, and will be ordering the WiiFit Plus with balance board soon. I like to play video games and have been playing World of Warcraft for over a year and finally decided that I could play AND get fit at the same time!
I am so looking forward to getting my Wii and getting started as my husband travels to work alot and need something to entertain me and get me off my butt as I feel he is staying in shape working (he is an electrician) but here I am becoming a whale! Enough I say!
So glad there is a specialized forum for the Wii and can't wait to get to know all of you.
WiiFit Plus is very good, with lots of different things to do, but no real RPG possibilities. For that, you might take a look at Red Steel 2. It gets you up - playing it sitting down is just not feasible, and you have to put some real effort into attacking. Read my review in http://wiifitforum.org/review-red-steel-2-t937.html.
Welcome, Wii Fit is a good way to get into the world of fitness. The games and exercises get you moving without being too strenuous. There's a whole world of other fitness games out there for the Wii that you can look into as you develop your fitness level. I love Gold's Gym Cardio Boxing and EA Sports Active.

Thanks,
I did read you review and yes, it sounds like something I might want to try. Thanks for the suggestion.

Welcome! The balance games in WiiFit Plus are great, I too am 50 and my balance was way off; playing the balance games helped me with other exercises. EA Sports Active is very good too and I just got Your Shape (with the camera). I wasn't going to get Your Shape, but I got it for a good price.
Hi Newbie - I am a newbie myself! Age 53 and sadly out of shape. Right now - the Wii reminds me I am obese. That's why I got this thing, to lose weight and tone up. I would like to be able to garden again without discomfort and do a hiking trail without feeling winded. So far I find I love the yoga and aerobics sections. There is a neat little Kung Fun game that is fun. I have added my two little dogs to the pet stats. Have not added the guinea pig or bird! Yes, I am an animal lover too. Good luck with your program, feel free to keep in touch with me.
