After a long while I've decided to work on making myself much healthier using the Wii Fit game. I've just got back upstairs from finishing day 1. My Wii Fit age is 15 which is my age now, but it seems that winter has made me a little more chubby so I'm a tad bit overweight. At school we are doing fitness testing and my weight was 138 pounds, but today on the Wii Fit game it told me that I was almost 137 pounds. I don't know which one to trust, but it seems more logical to trust my Personal Fitness teacher. I think the problem with my weight is that I always seem to feel hungry and I don't know why. I don't think this is a normal appetite, but doctors don't seem to think there's anything wrong so the only thing I can try to do is eat healthier and try to ignore the urge for a snack when it's not needed. ;)

138 is pretty healthy for an average height female. I wouldn't worry too much about a variation of just a pound. Women especially can see a lot of weight fluctuation in the course of a single day. My weight can shift as much as three pounds between breakfast and bedtime but I can wake up the next morning and be the same weight as the day before.

You should try to weigh yourself at the same time every day if at all possible. Wii Fit has a little sub program that you can install on your wii that's just for fast weigh-ins and I normally use that in the morning.

Snacking isn't all bad, it's what you snack on and how much that's important. Nuts are a good source of protein, especially if you've missed any meals through the course of the day. Most people don't get enough fruits or vegetables so definitely don't feel bad about an apple or some berries or carrot sticks. Your body works more efficiently if you feed it regularly anyway.

There are a lot of great resources on this forum so be sure to look around for ideas. You'll do great.

Thank your for all the advice. I don't know how, but I forgot that I only eat dinner. I think it'd be wise to start having all 3 meals. My teacher noticed that I don't eat and she brought it up to me. She said that if I don't eat normally that it can cause diabetes. I don't want diabetes and that may be the source of my junk food feeding frenzy.

Skipping meals will not cause diabetes! Your teacher is wrong! Lack of insulin or insulin resistance is caused by a variety of factors including genes and obesity, but skipping meals has never been one of these factors.

What skipping meals does is make you hungry. It makes you prone to binge eating. Eating three meals a day, spaced out such that you never become terribly hungry between them helps to prevent this sort of behaviour. Skipping meals can make it hard for you to concentrate and can make you feel tired. It can affect your sleep patterns.

Skipping meals is totally unnecessary. You don't need to skip meals to lose weight; you just need to eat fewer calories than you burn off.

The best thing for you to do is count the calories in what you are eating and then gain a rough idea of how many calories you expend each day. If you are eating more than you are burning off, then cut down what you are eating, but spread that over three meals.
