The New York Post short reports that some New York Schools are experimenting with Wii Fit to help motivate some of their kids to do more exercise.
This is not really a new idea, Dance Dance Revolution and similar games based on the same concept have been used in quite a number of school for some years. My partner is a teacher, and her school has a purpose built version, which I think has more robust equipment and also touch panels on the walls.
I'm not sure Wii Fit is necessarily the best system to use in this sort of environment, but it's nice to see schools trying something to help combat the level of obesity in kids, especially those that hate school sports.
The article is worth reading just for the comments, which can mostly be summed up as "In my day..." and "Get of my lawn!'
