Hi. I know it's a young persons' world and we oldies don't seem to count for much these days. (Cue ahhhhhhh). Joking aside, there are a great many older folk online and using gadgets (mobile phones, PCs, WiiFitPlus). My wife and I are both in our 70s. We are not fitness fanatics like some of the yummy mummies and guys in their 40s you see jogging round the streets. We decided we would like to live a bit longer by just losing a bit of weight and getting a bit fitter to reduce the effects/possibilities of diabetis/arthritis etc. So, back in the Spring we bought WiiFitPlus. Great stuff! We both have lost a few pounds (12 in my case) and can now go up stairs and walk more than a few hundred yards without stopping for a rest. However, about 20 minutes or thereabouts per day, most days, is enough to keep us at that level and maybe even improve a bit more. Free Step followed by Jogging (long distance) is about our limit. But now it's getting boring! At the levels we can do we don't have a hope in hell of finding extra pets, getting onto the boat or getting any of the other benefits that younger, harder workers can. So, what I wish for is a thread on here for oldies where we can get tips/cheats to boost our interest level. Maybe an older moderator with advice for our generation. Maybe (if necessary) the thread could have a proof of age necessity for logging in. It's a great board and Paul seems a decent guy but let's have something for the wrinklies! (I am a moderator on a couple of different type forums if I can help in any way). Jim.

There are lots of tips and shortcuts etc in the links for Wii Fit Plus - Hints, tips, cheats and easter eggs . I know there is a lot of reading but you can skim over much of it. You can explore at your own pace and don't really have to over exert yourself though with practise you will find your stamina increases. Many or us here are retired seniors and we have some fun teasing and encouraging each other around the world. With winter in North America coming on more will appear soon and all are welcome to join in the competitions and dixcussions. Another game you may enjoy that is not as strenuous as Wii Fit Plus is Walk It Out. It is a walking game where you match the beat of music and build the islands buildings etc by earning points and buying events.

Um, either this is tongue in cheek, or I've missed the point of your post. There is plenty here on this board for people of all ages. Anyway, some of the older members' scores put to shame the scores of the younger members. I swear that Meuthusalem's WiiFit age must be 17, and that's on a bad day.

Maybe I'm not getting it either but a lot of us here are far from young. The game is what it is so unless you can hit the levels you have to in order to get the extra stuff there really isn't much else we can offer regardless of age. Have you tried the cycling? It's just walking in place on the balance board and has a short run for beginners.
Feel free to jump in on any topic with your progress, frustrations, etc. We're all at different levels of fitness regardless of age.
OK guys thanks. It's just that I don't want to pop balloons or other silly things like that and it just gets so damned BORING doing the same things day after day - the only things I like doing out of them all that is - without being able to get any further forward in those particular things. Just me being grumpy. Just ignore me.

Try other Wii games, then. There are others that can help one with fitness. Let's see there's Step to the Beat (aka Walk It Out), some of the games in Wii Sports Resort, Shaun White Snowboarding, Super Monkeyball Step & Roll, and Red Steel 2, not to mention other, more dedicated fitness games. Just look around in your local shops or online and see what you might like, and if you see something, have a look at this forum to see if anyone's reviewed it. If it hasn't been reviewed and you think you might like it, try it out and write a review here.
There's no need to be grumpy when there's so much out there just waiting to be found.

No! On the bad day I was 49 The worst thing for me was the "running test". Most time one feet (left or right but nearly always different) count much more then the other.

If you like step and jogging you should really look into picking up a copy of Walk it Out. My mother is about your age and she plays the bloody thing at least an hour a day. She's more of a cycling fan than a jogging fan.
In the short term I'd recommend "cheating" your way through the lower cycling levels by using the flag maps to unlock the last level of cycling. It's basically just 30 minutes of aimless wandering. Alternatively you can completely disregard the flags on the first level and just ride your bike. When you're tired of riding just stop pedaling and press the B button to save your time and credits.
Some of the games are incredibly dull at lower levels and much more interesting at higher levels so it can be worth it to make the commitment to plow though the lower levels. It's not really a question of speed as much as it is perseverance. It's completely possible to unlock all the jogging tracks if you set a very slow pace from the beginning and then "surprise" your guide by pouring on the speed just as a pet runs by.
The games do get easier the healthier you get so you might eventually find unlocking higher levels much easier.
