Hi, I'm very new to the world of computer games but am really enjoying the Wii Fit Plus, and have got a couple of other games. Can anyone tell me if the games are region specific since I'm going to both Europe and the USA int he next few months and would love to be able to look for new games there. (My TV can play both European and American DVDs/Videos). Many Thanks, Mandy

Hi Mandy and welcome to this forum. If you want, yes it can region specific. Possible changes are the language, the dimensions (mile – km, pound – kilogram) and NTSC – PAL, but mostly it's on your hand to select that.
I'm in Austria but run it alternative in German of English language, using always km and kilogram (that's country specific) and I have set the TV Output to 60Hz in NTSC Mode instead the Austrian standard PAL for better reaction. All this works well.

My understanding is that unfortunatly Wii games are region-locked, so you can't actually play NTSC games on a PAL Wii and vice-versa. I'm not entirely sure what the regions are. If I manage to find out I'll post a followup message.
Hi Methusalem Thanks for your welcome. Does your reply meant that you are able to play games bought from different places i.e Europe and the USA on the same Wii machine? Best wishes Mandy

No, I only buying games local and have no experience with games for other country. However the TV output from an (EUR) type Wii console can switched to NTSC or PAL or HDTV (last only with a special cable).

There are, as far as I know, three regions for Wii games. PAL (europe) NTSC-J (Asia) and NTSC (USA) Nintendo region locks all their games but other game makers may or may not. You'll need to check individual games to see if they're region locked. It's supposed to be written on the back cover.
Hope that helps

My wife and I reside in Southern Australia: currently undergoing a very cold [for us] winter... but Wii seems to ignore Northern Hemisphere/Southern hemisphere variations, and in logging in to Wii Fit+ today, it actually commented on 'how hot it is'...maybe for Northern hemisphere folk!!
Does anyone know if the settings for time of year/location can be changed...or are we stuck with it?

Hello R@tz0 Have you set (in the third sheet of the Wii setup) the country to Australia ? I have try to check it, but it came no specific message so I can't say if it works or not.
