When our brand new Wii Fit was being set up - I initially set a goal weight for myself, now I want to lower to what the Wii say is my ideal weight. How do I change the goal weight without removing my past 40 days of progress.
I did not realize that there wasn't an 'on the fly' way to reset your goal. I did reset mine once so far. From what I vaguely recollect, there was a message whether I wanted to reset my goal since it didn't look like I would be able to attain it (I had had multiple trips out of town when my dad was failing, and the when he passed away, I was out of town again, so lost quite a bit of time on registering my wii fit sessions even though I did do some other exercise). So I did reset the timeframe to realistic date and did not lose any of my data up to that point. That leads me to believe that the way wii fit is programmed is to either 1) wait until you have achieved your goal and then perhaps let you set another? 2) or like me, to give you the option to reset your goal when it starts to become clear you will probably not be able to achieve it

Also if it looks like you might not achieve your goal it asks if you want to change the goal. I personally don't change it, I just try harder. Only wish it would help.....

On WiiFit Plus it does ask you every two weeks if you want to reset your goal. HOWEVER, I need to lose a significant amount of weight and it won't let me set a goal for more than 22 pounds, or the related BMI number to that. I do change it every time it asks as as of yet it won't let me get to my intended goal weight.
I always picked 2 week goals when I was losing. It's easier to stay accountable if you try for 1 pound a week or so instead of picking a large number over a long period. The machine gets all excited when you hit your goal too so hitting it every 2 weeks gives you a little boost. I'm in the maintaining phase now so I set it for a long period at the same weight and only weigh in once a week or so. That upsets the machine immensely.

Oh, I'll have to try that, I would be thrilled if the little Wii Board Icon did a dance or something if I hit my goal. I just assumed I should select my long term goal.

Yes, set easier short term goals like 2 lbs in 2 weeks and when you reach that goal there is a colorful celebration on the screen!
Once you erach your short term goal It will prompt you to set another.
I still have about 50 pounds to lose BUT, like everyone else, I can only lose it one pound at time.
