Is there any way of extending the play time above 2 minutes? We have played it loads and despite getting to roaring fire we can only get 2 minutes play time.... any ideas?

You only get more time with games if you unlock another level. As far as I know Rhythm Kung Fu has beginner and advanced levels. The times are set for the levels though.
