I find running barefoot to be really unpleasant when playing wii fit. It also makes our wood floor creak more and it annoys my wife.

Do yourself a favor and get yourself some custom running shoes at NIKEiD. You can even use them when you are not jogging in place and looking at a tv screen.

Thanks for the info about ankle weights being bad for you. I'd not thought about how it might affect your movement.

Personally, when I run on the spot, I tend not land on my heels. The impact is absorbed by the front of the foot, so I don't tend to have a problem running bare foot.

But I think the best thing is to try and do whatever is most comfortable for you.

Oh, and I wish I had enough room for a treadmill :) That would be great, going for a run around the island and being able to run properly.

I ran barefoot the first two weeks I had mine, and then my arches started to feel sore like they might tear. So now I use tennis shoes and it feels much better, I needed the added support.

Funny--there was a news story on Friday, Jan 29 that said a recent research study found that running barefoot is better, overall for your feet and your body. I personally can't stand to go barefoot--anywhere--except in water. If only I could stand it I might have more healthy, and happy, feet

When running, its more comfortable using shoes than in bare foot. Because wearing shoes serves protection from causing callus specially when you use to run in a rocky or cemented areas.

I started running without shoes, but I did not think it was wise, so now I run with the shoes. I usually do my first race after a brief warm up, then I can take my shoes off for the rest of my work out.

Why don't you think it wise to run without shoes?

Nice sharing.
I think you should do running with shoes because
when you ran without shoes then you can be injured.
But when you ran with shoes then you will feel very
comfortable.
