When doing the running what do others do -- running shoes, or bare feet?

I've been doing it in bare feet but I am not sure the is giving the correct support (or have I been watching too many Nike adverts!)

Heh :)

I've been doing it barefoot, mainly because I can't be bothered to put them on and take them off in the middle of a session.

The way I see it, we weren't built to wear shoes, so I think if you are running sensibly (i.e. not slapping your feet down flat footed) I think you will be ok. I've certainly not had any problems that way.

I started running shoeless, but I didn't think that was wise, so now I run with shoes. I usually do my run first after a short warm up, then I can take my shoes off for the rest of my work out.

Yes, I have found you get more support on your feet with shoes on

I started off shoeless, but found my feet were aching all the time so tried it with shoes on and I now have no problems :D

But I would just see what works the best for you and use whichever feels the most comfortable :)

personally i prefer bare feet but wearing footwear increase the effort required due to additional wieght
another option is to use ankle weights with or without footwear to increase the workout intensity and if you feel like a real work out add wrist weighs too

Yep, I'm planning to get both wrist and ankle weights for my Wii workouts.

Just remember to take them off when being weighed :)

I had heard using ankle/wrist weights are harmful. Checked out Mayo Clinic: article says it's "best to avoid ankle weights when you walk. Ankle weights can change your normal gait, which may cause you to lose your balance or hurt yourself while you're walking." See http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/ankle-weights/AN01867.

Shoes. I use a treadmill for the running sessions.
