Good Morning! I've been enjoying reading the tips on this forum for awhile, so now I'd like to say hello and introduce myself. I'm Becky from San Antonio Texas, USA. I've been working out with Wii Fit + for about 6-7 weeks and I'm hooked. I got Wii fit last year, and tried to use it occasionally on my son's Wii, but it was really inconvenient. His room is really small, not much space to work out, and besides, he didn't like me invading his space and taking over his room. So for Christmas I got my own Wii and got the Fit Plus game.

I've been working out pretty much every day for about 7 weeks. My progress has been erratic and sometimes frustrating (I'll lose a pound, and then the next day gain two!) but overall I'm down about 10 pounds in just under 2 months. I try to do a little of everything. I love the yoga and mix it up with strength exercises. I love the obstacle course -- it is probably my most favorite activity, I wish it had more levels. I enjoy cycling and the step exercise. I also do lots of balance games. I hope that by doing a little of everything, I'm getting a balanced workout. There are a few games I've tried that I don't like, such as the boxing. It seems slow and boring to me and doesn't give me a good workout.

I do seem to have a hard time getting a really vigorous workout with Wii, so I added Just Dance to my Wii routine. It really gets my heart pounding and gives me a good aerobic workout.

I used to be one of those lucky people who never exercised, ate whatever I wanted, and still managed to stay reasonably thin. I've never been athletic and hate exercising, but have been lucky to enjoy excellent health in spite of my bad habits. Then two things happened: I hit middle age, and 2 years ago I quit smoking. Holy Moly!!! In the two years since quitting smoking, I gained 40 pounds and my blood pressure (never, ever an issue before) shot up.

So, I know I'm better off since quitting smoking, but a new set of issues (weight and BP) have arisen. I'm hoping Wii Fit can help me get these under control. So far, so good. I've made a little progress and hoping for more. I'm looking forward to making more progress with the help of you all. It's nice to be here :)

Welcome Becky, your history sounds a lot like mine. I used to be 135 lb before i quit smoking a long time ago. I gained 40 lb quickly then eventually reached over 200. (I am 6'1) HBP is something we just have to live with now I suspect, we need to be thankful that these days it is controlable. I mostly cycle and I guess it depends on how hard you do any exercise because for me it is a good workout. My heart is pounding and I am breathing hard by the time I finish a 30 minute all out distance run. My endurance must be improving because the speed race (for balloons) is easier thean it used to be but still a good workout. Funny as I was cycling last night I was thinking how I used to have to zigzag up the steel ramp tunnel and many of the hills, now I blast by them, so it has to be having an effect on my health. Play the games you enjoy and join it the fun.

Welcome to the Wii Club Becky, your progress sounds good to me not too fast but not too slow either. I have lost 21lbs. since December 16th 2009, so It is possible to lose a lot if you put your mind to it. If you like the boxing but feel that the Wii version is too slow, then you have got to get Gold's Gym Cardio boxing. That is an awesome calorie burner, and it requires you to do more than just jabs and crosses. It includes ducking (squats) ducking left and right, crosses, jabs, uppercuts, and hooks. It also has jump rope, running (roadwork), squats, abdominal training (abs), lumberjack training, and a few other games in it. The boxing itself goes for 14 minutes total and you burn about 140 calories during that time, but it let's you take a break for however long you want after 7 minutes.

I just recently bought the Just Dance program as well, and that is a crazy workout isn't it? What is your favorite song to dance to and why, my favorite song is Cotton Eyed Joe because I love country line dancing and that song is very familiar to the one you would do in clubs. My mom loves who let the dogs out of course, I just wish they would put a calorie counter as to how many calories you burn during those songs. Keep up the great work, and let us know how your progress is going.
