I've managed ratings of:
Short Run - 234% Long Run - 264% Island Lap - 347%
I thought I would share how I've done this. The key is to jog at a constant pace. As I run, I concentrate on my pace. I count, to help me keep focus.
I jog on a little trampoline, but the method should work on the floor.
Another thing is that I hold the Wiimote vertically in my hand as I jog. This keeps it from bouncing around in a pocket so that it registers only the pace.
It's hard work doing this. It is also good exercise. Keeping a constant pace ensures that energy is expended evenly. It also helps to prevent injuries.
It also tones up the thighs nicely.

Good to know, but unfortunately, you are talking to a bunch of cycling maniacs here. My hubby runs some. I'll have him bring our little trampoline in! Thanks.
Can you imagine if someone from 1910 came upon our forum and read that we are bringing in a mini trampoline to go running?
I think I might be much more inclined to run using the tramp. I have a nerve bump on my foot and oooh that can hurt if I step on it. Using the tramp is, of course, easy on the joints, and it helps with cleaning out lymph nodes, which can only be cleaned by vigorous jarring activity. Or there are lymph cleaning capsules at the HF Store. There may be other ways, but that is all I know of.

I should get back into the running again. I did it at first then got hooked on cycling but that novelty is starting to wear off and my board would probably love it to quit trampling it for awhile! I'm sure I can make some sort of competition out of it for myself.

I started to run again today. Need a rest from island distnce challenge! I read somewhere that if you open all levels in basic run you get a free run which lets you go anywhere. I have an alternative motive in that I want to go exploring for cliff cheats etc. I noticed however that the island changes a bit. By the rock tunnel above the original starters circle there are 2 rocks on the right. I have tried and tried to get up enough speed to climb up these and jump to the balloon on the ledge just above but can't seem to do it. In one of the running routes there is a log bridging the gap, wish it was there for cycling.

As far as I know, there is no free run that lets you go anywhere. I wish there was. Oh, how I wish there was. There is an endurance run, but all you can do is go round and round on the black road without any guide: you run for distance, not for burn rate. I used to do this quite a bit on Wii Fit, but it does get a bit boring. I prefer to follow the guide animals for variety.
There are the memory runs, as well, of course, for a bit of an extra challenge.

I wish there was a way to run freely too but having thought about it, there wouldn't be a way to steer - in the cycling, you use the remote but in the running, it's being used to measure your steps.
I've been jogging a bit but having gotten bored of running the same courses, I've been using the free jogging and watching DVD's as I do it. 30 mins takes off a lot of calories and the distraction makes it go quickly!

Hi,
I've been cycling and running. I have a question about running, though. I have been trying out the Basic Run in the training plus area and have gotten to the point in the Island View where it said congratulations you now have 8 cats to take you anywhere you want. HOWEVER, in actuality, I have only two cats. The black and white one that basically takes you around the paved road and the calico that will take me over to the ruins.
Two cats and only two different runs. It is very boring.
Has anyone been taken on MORE than two different routes? If so, what is your secret?
Thanks, cd1
PS - I have tried the 30 min free run but I seem to slow up if I watch TV and get too bored just running, so I run 4 or 5 of the basic runs.

I think they counted the small, large and island tour cats together. In cycling you can go nearly everywhere. Not by jogging, without controlled direction.

I don't run, but this might help.
When you are told that you have opened a new level, you do not automatically move on to the next level. You have to first, click on the run picture on your exercise choice screen, and then second, CLICK TO ADVANCE TO THE NEXT LEVEL. Then click start, and you might get those 8 cats!
