I decided I want to bump up my Wii workout a bit, but I've been having trouble picking a new program to try. I've read Paul's reviews, but I just hate the thought of spending a lot of money on a new game and then finding I don't like it and having to buy another. SO! I joined Gamefly.com yesterday. It's like Netflix, but for games instead of Movies. I can rent various games and try them out to see if I like them before before actually buying them. The first month is just $12.95 and I can rent unlimited numbers of games (two out at a time).

Only one downside... They don't offer the games that require additional equipment, so Your Shape and EA Sports Active are not available. :(

Still, there are plenty of others to try. The first two I will be getting are Biggest Loser and Walk it out. I'll let you guys know how these go!

I had heard a radio ad for them but forgot the name. Thanks for reminding me. There is a new game that was released today--something about snow and ice

Thanks Pam; that's a great idea. I rented Biggest Loser from my local blockbuster and didn't like it. I want to try out the dance pad thing, but as that is extra equipment the site won't work. A couple of my neighbors are into WiiFit and we have talked about each buying something different and changing. We also want to get together in our pool house once it reopens and workout together.

Still waiting for my first games to arrive. I think they will be here today. I hope! It's taking a little longer than Netflix does.

mtbone, Great idea about sharing games. As a matter of fact, I'm doing that on Sunday. My weight watchers buddy and I have a Wii Date planned. She just got a Wii and a bunch of games as a gift, so she's going to bring all her games over to my house after our WW meeting sunday morning and we're going to play. She'll try mine, I'll try hers... Should be fun!

Walk it Out and Biggest Loser arrived today. I tried them both.

Regarding "Walk it Out"....Evidently I'm rythmically challenged. Walking and chewing gum is a problem for me. So trying to walk in time to music AND point and click at targets was not the best for me. I know I only tried it for a few minutes, but I can't say I really enjoyed it. I think I'll go ahead and send this one back and get the next game on my list. Just as glad I didn't buy it.

Biggest Loser... Jury is still out on this one. I set up a profile and started a 4 week challenge. I did the warm up, routine and cool down. The coach makes inane random comments that seem to have nothing to do with what you're actually doing. At several points I was holding a stationary pose and Bob said "I'm already out of breath!" huh? But that aside, I think it may end up being a good workout. I thought it was too easy.... at first... but I found myself starting to sweat half way through. I think the pacing is probably really good. Not so hard as to cause me injury or burn me out too fast, but hard enough to work the muscles. My core is going to feel it tomorrow. I'm going to keep going with this one and see how I like it.

Next up on my game fly list is Gold Gym Cardio Workout.

I have the Gold's gym. I still have quite a bit to unlock as i've only played it twice. Sometimes I think my remote is being read well or maybe i'm just not punching quick enough. So far it's basic punches and combos.

Did some stretching and went for a walk before putting in Biggest Loser today. I entered the walking I did as outside activity. Then, to my surprise, it told me I didn't have any other exercises to do today. I'm set up as a beginner, so I guess it does'nt want me to over do it? Next time I will do the program first, and then enter outside activity. I'd like to get both the cardio and the strength exercises.

Had a Wii date with my girlfriend Michelle this afternoon. She brought the fitness games she had. We combined that the games I have and checked them all out. We are doing Weight Watchers together, so we want to work out together too. We won't be in the same place at teh same time (except Sunday afternoons) but we thought it would be fun if we did the same workout program.

Biggest Loser - I've been doing this one for a couple days. Michelle and I really like this one.

EA Sports Active - I was SO glad I got to try this one out before buying it. It may be a great workout. It may even be the best work out. But I found it really boring and I didn't like the leg strap. I don't want to run around a track. I just can't see myself doing it.

Wii Sport Resort - very fun, but not an exercise program. I'm not sure why I thought this was an exercise program. You do get up and move around, but that's not the same as getting a workout. Still, we tried bowling, archery, and cycling and had fun. What games do you guys like with this? And do any of them actually give you a workout?

Wii Fit Plus - I love this for my warm up and days I just want a gentle strength and flexibility workout. Michelle liked it, but she doesn't have a balance board and didn't know if she liked it enough to invest in one. She wants something that will really burn the calories.

Ultimately, we decided to do Biggest Loser together for now. I'll still use my Wii Fit Plus for my warm-up (can't give up Island Cycling!) but I'll be doing BL for the rest of my workout.

EA Sports Active More Workouts is much better than Personal Trainer. It combines exercises to you aren't just running around the track for 3 minutes. I didn't mind the leg strap but found that if I sewed a small pocket to the front of my yoga capris I could put the nunchuk in there. It works great and it is much easier to get it in and out. I haven't tried the Biggest Loser workouts but I have My Fitness Coach and Your Shape but I keep going back to EA. I like the feedback I get because it uses the controllers and I find the workouts well balanced for overall fitness. I've made a few custom workouts that have the things I like in them (love the combo station boxing) and I was able to make them the length of time I want my workout to be.

So far I'm not impressed with Gamefly's response time. I returned a game over a week ago and just got notification that they recieved and are shipping my next game. This compared to Netflix where I mail something back and get notification they got it within two days. Sometimes 1 day. It's disappointing that it's taking so long to turn around the games.

My next game is Golds Gym. It isn't here yet, but I'm looking forward to trying it once it arrives.
