Hi all.
I'm Josh from Brisbane, Australia. I have just recently purchased the Wii along with Wii Fit Plus and Balance Board Accessory. I have a vision imparement and would love to be able to get fit using the Wii Fit Plus. Does anyone have a few tips what I can do to enhance my workoutt experience?
Thank you for your quick reply. My main aim is to loose weight but I also want to tighten my tummy and firm up a bit. I generally can use most of the games quite well. The only problem I have with it is that the tips appear too quickly on the bottom of the screen and the animations next to it are hard for me to understand.
Lots of the tips are gone before I have the chance to read all through them.
With the exercises, however, I am having much more difficulty. I am mainly listening to the trainer and what he sais for me to do, but when I ask anyone how I'm going, I'm told that there are a lot more things on the screen that I cannot see whilst I'm doing the exercises. I often have to quit and restart several times before I even get the gist of what I am being asked to do.
With all other aspects of the game however, I am very impressed! I love the balance board interraction and the fact that there is so much to do and experience. Overall I am most impressed by the Wii Fit Plus and love using it.
Thanks again for your reply and I look forward to posting my results!
I've now been on the Wii Fit Plus for a couple of days. I have been doing a body test every morning for the last 3 days now and my weight has dropped slightly, although it seems to be going up and down by about 0.3 KG each test. My BMI has also dropped very slightly.
I had my first serious workout this morning, a 10 minute free-jogging session. I managed to run 2,786 metres, which was equivelant to just over one lap of the entire coastal road on the island. I was at the top of the red bridge when my time was up. I got a 4 star rating and "Roaring Fire" message with it! I love the free jogging feature! In between looking where I was on the island, I listened to Australia beat Pakistan in the Boxing Day Test Match in Melbourne.
I then tried my hand at the Cycling. How can I check the map to find where the checkpoints are? I have only managed to find 5 out of 13 on Beginner Level in 15 minutes of going in circles!
I then moved on to some balance games and got to Level 3 on Table Tilt Plus. I tried out the Rythem Boxing game, but could not get the hang of it. Although the trainer said what I need to do, there are also some foot movements which I could not understand as there were different coloured dots on the balance bord picture on screen. What do they mean and how do I block??
On the positive side, I did 2 lots of the Jack-knife ab axcercise and got a very high rating along with unlocking a 20 rep mode and a challenge mode! I love that exercise as there are lots of sounds to hear to help when you are doing the exercise. Had a goal of burning 350 calories per day set and I've now already only got 200 more to go!

Press the 1 Button on the Wii Remote will show you a little more of the map (as long as you press the button).

Yesterday Afternoon I went on a 20 minute free jog using Wii Fit Plus and ran 5473 metres, (not sure what that is in feet, miles, etc).
I absolutely love the jogging lap. With my vision impairment, I don't have a lot of chance or opportunity to run, let alone in a safe environment. With the free jogging game, I can run around the island and not have to warry about steps, obstacles, cars or other people. I can just go for it and let loose!
Thanks for the riding tip to get a bigger map view. I've now found 10 of the 13 checkpoints in only 5 minutes. I also found some cool jumps and fun things to do on my ride around. My friend saw me jump off a high wall on the edge of the village and keep riding when I hit the ground. He said "iIf that were real life, you'd have broken legs and a broken bike, along with other things. Lucky you're not riding on the streets!!"!
My weight has dropped by over 1 kg since yesterday. I am really excited and feel much better for it, appart from stiff legs hen I got up this morning!

I don't like the cycling game much, so I often amuse myself by going cliff-diving.
In Rhythm Boxing, you step forward with one foot off the balance board, and you can also step back with one foot off the balance board. It shows you (but doesn't tell you) which foot. It just says 'step forward' or 'step back'. You can block by ducking a *lot* in the opposite direction to where the punching bag swings at you. I find it very hard to do, so I usually just take my lumps.
Thanks for the last post. I've now got the hang of the rythm boxing. I even got to a bonus round and knocked out the Wii Bag!! I've also managed to find all 13 checkpoints on the beginners cycling level! There are some cool jumps you can do along the way as well. Did you know you can go up through a section of the mountain on the Advanced bike circuit. I nearly #*!# myself when I fell into the water whilst in the cave! When you follow the track up and around, you come out on a grassy area above the rocks! The blue jumps are awesom! They let you jump OVER the water!
I've unlocked the Jackknife challlenge in the Muscel workouts section and busted the trainer after 20 reps! I got a 3 star challenge rating as well.
Next I want to get the hang of the Rythem Kung Fu routine.
Yesterday I was surprised to hear the Wii Body Test say to close your eyes and open them after the test. What's that all about? I also somehow found a way to do a 'simple test'.
By the way, I've lost a further 0.2 kg in the last day, not as much as I hoped but at least still something.

The "close you eyes" stuff is to do with testing your "inner ear balance". The theory appears to be that people's balance tends to be worse when we can't use our eyes to help us.

Josh, when you get to the Free Ride level on cycling, you may want to go to the Cheats/Easter Eggs section and get some idea where the balloons are. They are hard to find for someone with great vision! We have some bigger maps over there and a lot of discussion about finding the balloons, where to start on the island for the best route, what good the pets do for us, shortcuts, and there is a lot of excitement over there. But don't go there if you want to find it all on your own. (Hint: it will take forever and you still won't succeed. lol.)
