Konami has a new fitness title out called Walk it Out. Apparently it makes use of the balance board and the wiimote. I enjoy wii fit jogging and cycling but I confess I'm getting a little bored with no new places to explore. I was wondering if anyone has tried it out and what they thought of it.
I have another 23 lbs to go to hit my target weight and it's either buy some more wii games to be addicted to or eat salad for 4 months.

Nienna, I have been Walking it out for about 7 days now and so far I am really enjoying it. I have been averaging about 5 miles per day about and walking about 3x longer than I was using the wii fit. Things I like: It is really really flexible. Lots and lots and lots of route options. If you miss something you can turn around an walk the way you came. There is lots of stuff to look at, and you can purchase more decorations, music, even constellations. Depending on where you are on the Island the decorations are different. When you are in the country you can purchase Farm things, walking along the beach there is a lifeguard tower, every area has something unique that sets it apart. The tempo of the songs is varied and you have the option of choosing to just walk to slow, med or fast songs. You can also select songs from just one genre, but i have kept it on the play all. At the end of each session it counts your steps and tells you how far you have walked. You can get awards for "perfect steps", miles traveled, It keeps track of how many songs, constellations, and buildings-decorations you have left to unlock I think buildings is 4500 or so. It will take you many many miles to open the entire island. Thing i dislike is the nun chuck controls are less accurate but still usable. Will update more later.

OK, it arrived. I've only played with it for an hour, so I'm not going to do a proper review yet, but so far, it's not bad. It certainly motivated me to walk for the better part of an hour.
All the music isn't exactly to my taste, but I have figured out how to remove songs I don't like from the playlist. At any rate, walking around the island building things is fun. I'll have a look at the mini-games tomorrow.
It can be played with Wii Balance Board, the Wiimote and nunchunk, or with a Dance Dance Revolution mat. One of the reviews of it I read somewhere said that it doesn't work with mats other than the Dance Dance Revolution one. Myself, I'm using the Wii Balance Board, so it feels a bit like doing the cycling on WiiFit Plus.
For those of you who are interested, the European version is called Step to the Beat. It's better to go somewhere other than Amazon to get it. Amazon.fr says it is unavailable and Amazon.uk said it takes 2-3 months for delivery. I bought mine from FNAC which had it in stock, so it pays to look around.
Anyway, I'll let everyone know more later, as soon as I have had the time to play around with it more.

I finally picked it up over the weekend and I have to say, it's like crack. Seriously, I was driving home from a long day in the city last night and thinking to myself. "If I drive a little faster I'll have time to play Walk it Out before my roommate can get to the wii."
They did an excellent job with this, my only complaint is the constant barrage of suggestions from the trainer. If anyone knows how to turn them off please let me know!

"Like crack" - truer words have not been written. What I do to hush the trainer a bit is poke the occasional small thing while I am building something large (bridge, important route, dirigible, lighthouse - my next long project is to build every Burger Champ I can find). Of course, this only helps when you are in an urban area, where you can activate Planters for 10 points each every so often, and only until you run out of planters to activate
At 572 points to build them, Burger Champs are the only buildable thing I have found that doesn't cost a multiple of 10 points.
The real son-of-an-unwed-mother in this game is the occasional "one way door". You know, where you go through a junction and can't go back because you haven't yet unlocked the road you came on in the reverse direction. And the reverse direction always costs hundreds of points.

Indeed, it is like crack: this game certainly leads to serious game lock.
I played it for 2 hours today! I decided to try to build as much stuff as I could on one particular road. Up and down I went, and there was always just one more thing to do and suddenly, it's two hours later and the road is completely cleared of capsules. And I've only done 9% of the construction capsules, including today. It's wonderful!
I hope Konami will support this game more. I looked for more info on their site, but it's as if the game doesn't exist: it's not listed on either the French or the English site. How very odd.
At any rate, how much have you done so far? Have you made a rainbow yet? Have you managed to find enough pieces of a zodiac sign to build one? Have you built the dirigible? So much to do.
Everyone should buy this game. I haven't felt so happy since I was exploring all the cycle routes.

I got the rainbow my first time playing. I made what I felt was an important discovery. I thought the directions about the "Magical Clock" were poorly explained until I was watching my mother play one afternoon. She was on the mountain lookout at 4pm and she unlocked a zeplin (it's labeled airship) when I went back later at 7p to unlock mine it wasn't there. That's when it clicked. different capsules must appear on the island at different times of the day. If that's the case we've barely scratched the surface on the unlocks and who knows what else is lurking out there.
I currently have a fishing pier, a lighthouse and 99% of the map unlocked.

Yes, I've found out the hard way about the capsules that only appear at different times. The shop capsules only appear during the day, for instance.
You have a fishing pier? Where's that? No, don't tell me, I'll find it myself, because that's part of the fun. It's not the one by the lighthouse, is it, though?
Ah yes, an airship. You'll have to pardon some of the names I give things: I'm playing the game in French. It's a great way - and painless way - of improving my French. It does mean, though, that sometimes I give things names that aren't the same as the English ones.
I've got the lighthouse, too. And three wind turbines. What I really need to get is a zodiac sign. At least I've now managed to locate the part of the program that tells you how many pieces there are for each sign.
I did nearly two hours today and I'm already plotting how to do more tomorrow. So many things to build. I want to build some more wind turbines and the Burger Champ. And add a few new songs to my playlist. Ah, the joys of being addicted.

No the fishing pier is not near the lighthouse.... *covers mouth* must not post spoilers!
I didn't see your extensive and dedicated review until after I posted this. I have 100% of the map unlocked today, I'm so proud.
I did 2.5 miles on Walk it Out and my regular 30 min wii workout. At this rate I might actually make that 15lb goal for Christmas.
