Warmed up this morning with 15 minutes of Island Cycling. It would have been 10 minutes but I missed a flag and had to go hunting for it. I followed that with 10 minutes of a stretching DVD followed by a nice outside walk with Ari (my dog). 10 more minutes of the Stretching DVD finished up today's workout. I really need to start timing my walks. I have no idea how long I'm out there. Could be anything from 15 minutes to half an hour. I don't have great time sense. lol

Tonight is a big challenge. My husband is having a poker party and wants me too make all sorts of things that are NOT Weight Watchers freindly. Chips, cookies, oy! I mostly resist these things by not having them in the house. I swear I was breaking out in a cold sweat just grocery shopping for the stuff this afternoon! I've decided to get it all prepped for him, and then I'm going to the movies with a girlfriend. Maybe if I'm just not here tonight I can resist until then.

Hi Pam and Alexa; (and anyone I missed)
Sounds like you are both doing great. Pam you for not using your injury as an excuse and for looking for ways to keep at it. I like the walker idea. Alexa, 20,000 steps a day, you go girl!! Have either of you ever tried magnet therapy for any pain related to your injuries? I have osteoarthritis (knee, hip, fingers and ankle) I started using magnets over three years ago when I was having to take Tylenol 3 times a day (NOT good for you liver). After a few weeks of wearing magnetic bracelet my need for meds dropped remarkably. In the past 3 years I've probably only taken Tylenol fro breakthrew pain 8 to 10 times. I have to drive ALOT for work and that really got to my hip, I bought a magnetic chair pad for my car and it works great. There is one very important safety thing though, magnets absolutely CANNOT be used if you have a pacemaker.

Hope you managed to resist all the snacks, husbands can be very detrimental to our diets !

That's interesting about the magnetic bracelets. Apart from my hip injury which only bothers me occasionally, I'm pretty much okay, touch wood ! but my husband suffers from gout, so I wonder if they'd help him.

I did 30 mins wii fit yesterday, 10 minutes yoga, a mix of cycling, Kung fu, and Rythm Parade, then I did 15 mins on Wii sports, boxing and tennis and bowling. So 45 mins altogether. 16,000 steps, the weather here is still really awful. I overdid the snacking yesterday but kept to sensible choices and my totals for the day were still okay. Partly my husbands fault as he was very late home from work so our evening meal was very late.

Will be having a takeaway meal tonight, but will try to go for the most sensible choice ! probably Chinese.
Pouring with rain this morning so will not get much walking done, other than the school walk.

Thanks for the encouragement Alexa and mtbone.

I did it! I went to the movies with my girlfriend last night and did not eat any of the Poker Night snacks. I did get a small popcorn at the theater, but I did not eat it all and I counted it as 6 points. I stayed within my daily alloted points. WOOT!

Saw The Blind Side, btw. GREAT movie!

Interesting about the magnets! Do they have something for knees? That's where I have the oestoarthritis. Might be worth a try.

Keep going Alexa! 30 minutes is great. WAY better than no exercise even if you aren't walking as much as you ususally do. YOu're still maintaining the exercise habit and maintaining your progress. Keep it up!

Good workout today. 11 minutes on Island Cycling to warm up (3.5 miles and 3 stars! A record for for me for Island Tour level). Then 10 minutes of my stretching DVD. Took Ari for a brisk 30 minute walk and got much further than I have in the past.

When I got home I put on Biggest Loser and entered the walking I did. At that point it said I didn't have any other exercises to do today, which surprised me. I did set myself up as a beginner, and I guess the program doesn't want me to over do it at first. Still, next time I think I'll do the exercises in the game before entering any outside activity. Finished up with another 10 minutes of stretching. Feeling good!

Tomorrow is weigh in. I've got my fingers crossed for a good report, but have to admit I didn't eat really great last night. We went to a friend's house and she's a great cook. I did NOT go over board. Kept my portions appropriate. But it was still more than I've been eating and a lot more fat. Hopefully the rest of the week will balance that out.

Well done Pam and good luck with weigh in.

We had a take-out meal last night and I chose Chinese, my meal was mainly very lean meat, lots of veg in oyster sauce, I had a little rice and a few fries too. Not too bad though. Couldn't manage any Wii at all, but I always have weekends off, family around, and I deserve a break ! My hip is also extremely painful, I'm still presuming its from the accident I had and hope it's not a precursor of arthritis (I'm in my forties)but my mother has it.

Spent the day clearing out my seven year old's room ! that burned some calories. She has so much stuff !!!

No Wii fit tomorrow but Sundays always seem to log up a lot of walking for us.

Only 18,000 steps today, but not bad considering I'm on pain killers for my hip.

Alexa,

Speaking as one who has suffered from chronic hip pain for years (I'm also in my 40s)... Try icing your hip for 20 minutes two or three times a day. It really helps. Also, if you can get it, I've found my TENS unit to be a GREAT investment. It's an electric device that I use on my joints to send a little trickle of electricity through the muscles. It really helps healing a LOT. I do the TENS and the Ice at the same time. I get a lot of relief with this regime and use very little pain meds.

Here's more info on the TENS unit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transcutan ... timulation

I originally got mine from my Chiropractor, but my Physical Therapist and Orthopedist also endorsed it. The units are readily available online.

Up a pound this week. sigh....

I've been bouncing back and forth between 151 and 152 lbs, and just can't seem to get past it. I've been exercising more and I've been counting my points, so it's discouraging. I'm trying to determine where I'm going wrong with the points. I guess I may be doing more "estimating" than I should, and need to do more actual weighing and measuring. Also ate out a lot last week, which is hard. I made good choices, but obviously either ate too much or the choices weren't as good as I thought. I know I had a fair number of BLTs this week too. (Bites, Licks & Tastes = BLT). I'll have to work on that.

Still, I know I was mostly good, and I'm eating WAY better than I used to, so it's frustrating.

I'm not sure how the whole WW points system works but I found that I really overestimated how much a serving of things was. I had to resort to measuring cups, counting pieces and weighing until I got a grip on just how much I was supposed to have. Does the points system take into account your height, desired weight, etc?
