Extra weight gain when you've been getting a lot of exercise can be water. Your muscles need water to heal so they store it and then let it go. If you do extra exercise or step up what you are doing you often see the little rise followed by a loss. It also helps to boost your metabolism to mix things up a bit. You have to keep your body guessing so it can't get a set point for you that makes you plateau.

This is an excellent point, Mokey. I've really been stepping up my exercise and I'm sore. So I'm probably retaining more water.
Becky, It's probably not a good idea to weigh yourself every day. Fluctuations from day to day are normal, and sometimes we read too much into it. I only weigh in once a week at Weight Watchers. That seems to keep me a little more sane. lol.

Love Ari, Pam, he's sweet !
Yes, Mokey you're right about water, and also about mixing things up a bit sometimes, too long on not many calories (though I'm sure none of use go too low) and we do stick.
I do tend to do the body test every time I do Wii fit, but I try not to get disheartened by fluctuations, at least when I look at the graph I can see that though it may go up and down from time to time, as long as the general trend is down, I'm okay !
No wii fit today as I've been out all morning but that entailed a long walk to and from the city centre instead of taking the bus. I agree Becky it's good to try to slot in extra exercise where you can, stairs instead of lifts, getting off the bus a stop earlier, parking the car further away. Glad you enjoyed the concert, I allow a little leeway for social occasions too.
My fit-piggy has just turned silver too !
I also think we should bear in mind that most women of all ages are just more prone to weight changes due to fluid than men are.

I used to religiously weigh in every day and get discouraged by the ups and downs. Then I set the graph so I could see back 3 months and saw the line going down. Those daily hiccups all smoothed out into a nice downward slope. I'm pretty much where I want to be now so as long as my line stays relatively straight I'm good. I only weigh in when I think about it to stay on track. It's too much to obsess about the day to day stuff.
I've also discovered that one day of going off the rails won't make me fat just that same as getting over zealous with exercise one day doesn't result in huge weight loss. It's a slow process and just making good choices whenever possible is the key. I didn't gain weight in a week when I put it on, it was a process of years and it didn't come off that quickly either. It took me almost 9 months to lose the 17 lbs that I did and it's still an ongoing process to try to tighten up the baggy skin and get some good muscle tone. I really find that it is much harder now at 52 to get the skin to tighten up than it was in my 20's when my kids were born (I'm still blaming the jelly belly on my daughter!) and muscle definition is slow to come. I've done enough crunches now to be able to see a 2 pack instead of a keg so I'll keep plugging away.

Snowing today! Ari and I stayed in and did Biggest Loser (Well... *I* did Biggest Loswer, Ari just watched.) Warmed up with Island Cycling, followed by a 23 minute biggest loser routine, and finished up with a 20 minute stretch dvd. My body feels good! But I bet my upper body is sore tomorrow... Planks are going to kill me. I just could NOT hold the plank position! I'll keep at it. Eventually I'll get there.
WW going well. I'm feeling in control of my eating.
You guys are right, it's not about being perfect all the time. It's about over all patterns of behavior. All this talk of not stressing over the occasional slip reminds me of a GREAT analogy I got from my Weight Watchers leader. In the past I've had this tendancy to go hog wild and eat everything in sight if I slipped a little. My attitude was "I've already blown it. Might as well give up today and start over tomorrow" or worse "start over Monday". My leader's comment was "If you were driving down the highway and got a flat tire, would you get out of the car and shoot out the other three tires?". This has been an amazingly helpful mental image for me! Several times recently when I haven't eaten particularly well, I've been tempted to use it as an excuse to eat even more. I've been chanting in my head "don't blow out the other three tires!" and it's really helped me get back on track quickly.

That is a good analogy Pam ! I used to have that attitude, 'I've blown it now, so what the heck'. Now I try to just get back on track as soon as possible.
Can I ask you, what is the 'plank' position ?
Sounds like you're doing well.
I missed not doing my Wii fit today so will definitely do it tomorrow. I've done over 25,000 steps though and it's only 6pm.

Plank position is where you get into position to do push-ups. Balanced on your arms and feet with your body straight. but instead of doing pushups, you just hold it. It's HARD!!!! Especially for people like me with no core strength. I'm working on that, slowly but surely....

I love that analogy. That's often been my problem and it's taken me a long time to unlearn that habit. I think I've finally got to the point where I can be a little bit naughty without giving up.

Thanks Pam, I had a feeling that was what you meant.
It's taken me a long time to learn that too Paul. When I was younger, and knew a lot less about nutrition then, I used to eat far too little, then understandably get really hungry and go way overboard to the other extreme, yes, the 80/20 rule works ! I also feel much more relaxed about food when I know I'm exercising a lot.
All information is very helpful i am also want to shared my diet plan for weight loss.I go through balance diet plan for weight loss. i used diet pills with exercise which help me to lose weight in healthy way, really effective for weight loss to me.
