I went off the rails foodwise a bit yesterday, I don't know why. I just ate far too much of the wrong things. Still, one afternoon/evening isn't going to do too much damage I hope. Did lots of walking and about 25 mins Wii Fit.
Today, I went for a longish walk, nice and sunny though still cold. I then did my Wii fit, 10 mins yoga, 30 mins cycling and a bit of Segway. Eating sensibly up to now.

I took a day off yesterday. I got a massage in the morning and felt so good and relaxed, I didn't want to undo the feeling with a workout! I've been really consistant lately with the daily exercise, so I figured one day off wouldn't set me back too much.
My WW plan is going well. I've been very much in control of my eating. I've been enjoying that tomato veggie soup a lot. Also lots of fruit. Canteloupes have been really good this year and are low in points. Yum.
Today I switched to the Expert course on Island Cycling. Found all the flags but I ended up going 10.5 miles. Took me 42 minutes! My legs feel like spaghetti, and I still have my Biggest Loser workout to do. Oy.
On a less happy note, I got a call from my doctor today. I had some blood work done earlier this week and my cholestoral is way up. He wants to put me on meds. Since I JUST got going with this exercise program, I talked him in to letting me continue without meds for two more months and rechecking me. Between the low fat/High fiber diet, and my new exercise program, I'm hoping I can bring down the cholestorol on my own. I'd really rather not take more medications if I don't have to.

Try eating Cheerios for snacks. Oats are supposed to help lower cholesterol and Cheerios make a great snack food. I keep a Rubbermaid container on my desk and when I get the urge to snack on bad things I have a couple handfuls of Cheerios. Low in calories, good fiber, and the benefits of oats. Lots of different cereals make great snack foods and are easy to take along in a baggy or small container in your purse for those times when you're out and need a bite to eat. Much better than grabbing that impulse bag of chips or chocolate bar.

Sorry to hear that about the cholesterol Pam. Sounds like you are going about things in the right way, I expect you may see an improvement without medication, which is the best way if possible.
I'm a great believer in oats ! I don't actually like cheerios very much, but I buy big bags of porridge oats, but even better is oatbran made into porridge, very filling, very high fibre and as you say Mokey, all the cholesterol lowering benefits. Of course not convenient for everyone, you can't really carry a bowl of porridge in your handbag ! I sometimes have a bowl of oatbran porridge in the afternoon around 5pm, to keep me going till the evening meal. Made with skimmed milk it's really nice.

Hmm... I used to eat oatmeal for breakfast every morning but got out of the habit. Thanks for the reminder! I'll try that for the next few weeks too. I REALLY want to avoid having to use medication.

I did a simple body test this morning. I weighed in at "Normal" for the first time ever! Not sure if I believe the scale. My "official" weigh-in will be Tuesday at Weight Watchers. Or I might go tomorrow... Not sure yet...
Still warming up with Island Cycling, stretching, and Biggest Loser alternated with walking or other exercise. I tried the Golds Gym cardio workout this morning, but didn't like it.

Whew!!! My husband and I took Ari and went and walked the green belt this morning. It's a beautiful day here, and that was much nicer than just walking around my neighborhood. Unfortunately, I'm always forgetting that however far I walk, I've got to go that distance back. We walked until my hip started to hurt and THEN started back. Not a smart plan. About 2/3 of the way back to the car there was a spot where we could get out of the green belt and back onto the street. I went up that way, ducked into McDonalds for a diet coke. I stretched and waited while Steve went back to the car and came and got me. I really over did it. I ended up walking for an hour. I'm going to have to do some icing and my TENS unit on my hip this afternoon, but fortunately the stretching did help some. I'm not in excruciating pain. I'll be smarter next time.

I did reply to your earlier post Pam but my internet connection has been very erratic today !
Well done on the 'ideal', you must be really pleased ! I always use either oat bran, don't know how available that would be for you though, or steel cut oats, that is the unprocessed kind. The more processed the higher the glycemic index is. All oats are good though. Is oatmeal/porridge popular in the US ?
Is the Gold's Gym workout a dvd you have? Sorry to hear you overdid it. I did a huge amount of walking one day last week and was fine the next day, but the day after that I was very stiff.
I've been very good foodwise since my slip up.
I also found a new area on the island whilst cycling, I've always wanted to go to the castle but I couldn't find it. I spent literally over an hour over a few days trying to get there and I found it. It's nice to find something like that as it adds interest, I got lost in the caves though on the way back ! I'm a bit claustrophobic so I really wanted to get out of there ! silly really when I'm standing in my own living room !

Pam Congratulations on registering Normal, I'm still working toward that. Good luck with avoiding medication; I think you can do it with diet and exercise. I just got my EA Sports Active today and started the 30 day workout. I followed the advice in this forum, Mokey I think, that said start out with low intensity. That darn leg band is a pain, I did tons of squats that it didn't record. It is NOT an easy workout. As far as the oats go, steel cut oats instead of breadcrumbs makes for a nice, healthy meatloaf. Though it wasn't easy finding steel cut oats here in the Northeast.

LOL ! I add oats to all sorts of things, meatloaf included, it's a good thickener, and family are blissfully unaware. I'm lucky to be at the top end of the ideal bit, my son is underweight and my OH is overweight, my daughter is ideal ! I used the simple test today, down slightly, sending healing hugs to all those with aches and pains.
