3 pounds lost, the low carb kick start is making me feeling much better. I don't tend to stay very low carb for long, will introduce 'good carbs' soon. I am still having a little fruit, usually strawberries and blackberries with a tiny sprinkle of fructose, so I do still get a small 'sugar-hit' ! It's amazing how your appetite decreases. I cooked a meal for my husband and I last night, very low carb for me, and I really wasn't all that hungry !

Congrats on the 3lb loss, Alexa! I agree that low carb can jump start your weight loss. I've been doing low carb for a couple of months now and having pretty good results. I'm eating mostly lean meats (grilled chicken, steak, hamburger patties), cheese, eggs, and lots and lots of nonstarchy vegetables and salads. When I do eat carbs, it's whole grains like bran muffins. I found a couple of ice cream treats that are low carb so I keep those on hand for when my sweet tooth strikes. I've lost almost 20 pounds since the first of the year doing this plus lots of exercise.
A simple version of a low carb diet is the "no white diet" that I heard about recently. Instead of white potatoes, white bread, white rice, etc, you eat yams, whole grain breads and brown rice. You just avoid white foods and try to get as much color in your diet as possible. Good idea, since colorful veggies are generally packed with nutrients.
