I am making lifestyle changes this year, and I've chosen Weight Watchers and the Wii to help me to my goals. I like Weight Watchers because it isn't a "diet" per se. They really teach you how to eat for life. There is nothing that is "forbidden" so you never feel deprived. Its more learning about portion control, making good choices, and how much you should actually be eating. Becoming more active is also part of the program, so I'm using the Wii Fit Plus program for that. I started Weight Watchers the beginning of December and added the Wii in January. I do want to lose weight, but my main goal is to become more fit, healthy and energetic.

Anyone want to join me for mutual support?

Pam

Hi Pam

I've just bought the wii console and wii fit plus and am waiting for it to arrive. I really want to get healthy and lose weight but have been stuck in a rut. Some friends of mine have the wii fit and they recommended it to me.

I hope to get started as soon as it arrives, which should be Friday. I'm starting to follow the weightwatchers plan. I'm keeping to the points system. I have the at-home weightwatchers pack and have done it before. I moved home last year and the weight piled on as I stopped walking. I just need to get that kick start.

I wish you every success with the wii fit. Let me know how you get on with it. I'll keep in touch with my progress as well.

Good Luck
Anne

Hi Anne,

Let us know when your Wii arrives! I'm LOVING mine. I'm actually having fun exercising, and I usually HATE exercising.

Ok, since this topic is about Weight Watchers, as well as using the Wii, I will go ahead and post my goals publically. Hopefully that will help me stay on track. Nothing like a little accountability!

I started my WW journey the beginning of December. I chose to start then so I wouldn't gain so much during the holidays, and it worked! I started at 160. My goal is 140, which is sort of at the high end of the acceptable range for my height and age, but is a weight I think I can reasonably maintain without making myself nuts. I've lost 7.2 pounds so far. It's coming of slowly but steadily, which is ok by me. My goal is to reach my goal weight by mid June, when I am going to Hawaii for a week. Would be nice not to be embarrased to be seen in a swim suit!

Pam

Now there is a goal to get you going. Wish I could convince my wife to go if I lose enough we could meet you on WaiKiKi. You would be the one in the bikini I assume :D :D Good luck!!

Weeeellll.... at my age I don't think a bikini is quite the thing... Sort of like trying to dress up mutton to look like lamb. LOL.

Do you actually go out and pedel in the snow? If I were in Nova Scotia I'm not sure I'd want to wait until June to retreat to Hawaii! :)

Very little cycling in the snow here Pam. It's too dangerous as welll as cold. I did see a couple out this week though. Not as cold as you might imagine, actually above freezing this week, as high as 10. Snow has almost melted but I know it will return. That's why I like the Wii, in winter I can still exercise in the basement and make believe i am back on the golf course or out cycling or walking. Should be back outside in late April or May :D

Hey, Pam--You have some excellent credentials. I see by your website that you teach in Murfreesboro--my brother lives in Woodbury. You and I have probably crossed paths at some point--what a small world!
