I have been cycling for so long I forgot what the beginning was like: In the beginner Course there are no ramps at all. If you complete the course (I think only once, but it might have been twice) you open "Advanced Course" level. In the Advanced Course there are red ramps, but the only blue ramps are across the river. There are four, not two. I forgot about the two closest to the big bridge. More ramps come in other levels.
There are ramps all over the place that you can bike over. But the blue ones are special. They launch you pretty far. The two most obvious are on either side of the river. You can use them as a short cut to the flags over there instead of biking to one of the two bridges.
The catch is that you have to approach them right: pretty much straight on and with at least a small amount of speed. If you hit them at the wrong angle, or don't have enough momentum, you'll end up falling in the river. When you do, you will reappear back where you were before you made your mistake.

If you've got the Wii Balance Board (and a nunchuck) already from having bought Wii Fit, Wii Fit Plus can be bought on its own relatively cheaply. (Honestly, two movie tickets would be more expensive...) Avoid "bundled" versions of the game - "bundling" implies it's being sold with something, which in this case would be the Balance Board.

I have been doing the Island Cycling (Wii Fit Plus) Expert course. There are 20 checkpoints. I have been able to get 17 of them but 3 of them I cannot find access to. One of them appears to be on the edge of Duckling lake; one appears to be in a cave and the other appears to be high up. How can I find a map that shows me access to all of the paths? I cycle around the sides of the mountains and inside the caves but I can't find access to any of these paths. Help!

The problem is that all the places you see on the map happen to be at different heights. You can't tell that on a 2D map. So it takes repeated spins around the island to get familiar with it and how to get where. I spent a few sessions just biking, not worrying about flags or balloons or checkpoints. It also helps to study the little map in the booklet- at least some of it will make sense that way. I started to have my hubby make notes on a paper that I printed with comments by Tristis. Then I reread it all before starting on the trip the next time. Bit by bit I am remembering where to go.

I think I remember seeing that flag that looks like its in duckling lake. I think its the one in the cavern that has the metal spiralling ramp.
I agree with what kescah said. But I'll add that one hint a flag might be off in one direction over another is the presence of ramps. It's not a guarantee by a long shot. There are ramps that are obviously just there for random riding over. But if you see a ramp off the path at the edge of your screen, it doesn't hurt to take a ride over to it. That's how I first found the entrance to the cave that leads to the dry lake (and the flag that is there).

I would love to find a map of the island. I have been racking my brains trying to get all of the flags in the expert level. If any one figgurs out how to get that flag that looks like it is in the water, please let me know. The ramps over the lake are cool. I go up into the grass and get a running start to jump them. I have noticed baracades in expert level I'm guessing there are more levels? It is a great game. It would be nice if the stationary bikes at the gym had this type of technology.

Hi Golfer!
There is a map of the island in your Wii Fit Plus booklet. It is not very detailed, but it helps you to get the gist of the island. I found it very helpful; it took away my feelings of "Completely Lost".
Yes, there is another level called Free Ride Cycling. It is great fun. There is a castle, ruins and balloons hidden all over the island off the beaten path. Mostly on the greens and in the sand traps. There are also four doors that we keep hoping you can open, but so far nobody has. You are timed and the trick is to get it all done within 30 minutes. Some here have accomplished that. (Not me.) You can read all the hints on the Upper Level thread in this Hints section. Unless you want to try it without the hints.
Best wishes on the Expert course. Somehow, I never did that course! I skipped right to the Free Cycling.
