yes the EDTV/HDTV 480p option is greyed out. could you tell me which cable I should be using please?

Look in the Wii operation instructions (in my copy on page 41):
EDTV / HDTV (480p) Select this display output when using the Wii Component AV cable to connect with your HDTV or EDTV.

Please read this operation manual page complete (the notes) and ask in a Wii store for it.
Checks whether your HDTV also has a Componet entrance.

 Maybe you can solve the problem with strong lights and the Wii remote with the Sensor Bar Sensitivity setting.
If you switch on sensitivity setting the Wii Remote will work as an infrared camera.
Heading the remote will show you on the screen what this camera sending.
White points, other then the two from the Sensor Bar, can show you up the other light sources which will possibly confuse the Wii system.

From long distant away I cannot know this.
Already have you tried another remote control and does the same fault appear?
Is this malfunction also at the Nunchuck?
Adjust the sensitivity shows only the two points from the Sensor Bar or many points?

I don't think this another cable will sure remove the malfunction but in any case it takes a higher reaction speed and image quality on the television set.

Now I have checked the Rhythm Parade:
If I use the Wii Remote control like throwing a stick, it will sometimes make problems, it is better using the Wii Remote and the nunchuck like beating drums.

Maybe this would solve the problem.

i moved my wii console back to the old tv and it worked perfectly so i can only assume the problem is with the tv. in the sensitivity setting regardless of which number it's on it only ever shows 2 blinking dots and i've already tried each with exactly the same results.

Just to add to what people said at the start of this thread about the Rhythm Parade, I found the same problem in that it's really hard to keep to the beat of the music. As an ex-majorette (probably shouldn't have disclosed that! How embarrassing lol) I find it especially annoying because I know I can march in time! I've found that if I keep my feet in time with my hands then I usually stay in time with it, so on a flick of the remote or nunchuck I know that's when my foot was supposed to hit the balance board. That helps a bit, especially when there are several hand movements one after the other. It's not easy though, I really do think the title needs changing to "Slightly Off-Rhythm Parade"...

It's funny when I start playing something I often think that there is something wrong with the game and then I discover that there is actually something wrong with me! Most often if I practice a game for awhile I find that it's not as messed up as I thought it was. Rhythm Parade is much easier after you do it for a bit and get used to flipping your hands and marching at the same time. Sort of like patting your head and rubbing your belly.

How do you do it then Mokey, lots of people seemed to have trouble with that one, is there a trick to it? Patting my head and rubbing my belly I can do, I've no trouble marching and using my hands at the same time, but the steps it wants you to march to just don't seem to fit most of the music.

Re: Rhythm Parade

(Interesting note: if your Wii is set to French, this game is called Majorette!)

(Why am I qualified to write this? I have a Perfect rating on Basic RP, that's 525 points, and I am within 40 points of Perfect on the Advanced mode, 1285 out of 1325.)

"You have to march in time with the music". This is just wrong, in two different ways.

Error 1: In Real Life, the music marches in time with the leader. In military bands, he waves the big stick around to give instructions to the musicians.

Error 2: In WiiFitPlus, the music is fixed, and the *Mii* does indeed march in time with it when it has a time to march to.

So, here are cynique's tips for scoring well on Rhythm Parade:

TIP 1: Ignore the music because it will confuse you, especially on the Advanced level where it breaks into chaos partway through.

TIP 2: You must march in time with your MII'S FEET.

It can be right with right/left with left, or right with left/left with right. Which you do does not matter to the game. It may make a difference to how you play (see discussion below), but not to the game. If you are marching in time, you get a blue splash around your Mii's feet with every step, and a tinkly sound. If not, you don't, and your score will suck.

TIP 2.5: Practice getting in step using the short period where the Mii marches out into the square and then marches in place.

TIP 3: Hold the Wiimote and Nunchuck out in front of you with your upper arms vertical and your forearms horizontal, so that the controllers are in front of your hips and your elbows are by your sides.

In this position, track the falling icons and move the controllers around when the icons touch the circles. Sometimes you get just a right (icon with Wiimote), sometimes just a left (icon with Nunchuck), sometimes both (one each side). Remember to use the Wiimote in your right hand and the Nunchuck in your left, or you will cause your brain to seize up somewhere around the fourth set of icons. ;)

TIP 4: Make small movements with your wrists, either a flick up or a flick down.

TIP 5: When you get both icons together, move both hands. When you get just one icon, do NOT move the other hand. You will be marked as failing.

TIP 6: When there are no icons on the circles, you can safely twitch your hands. Do not do this.

So: why does it matter whether you are in step with your Mii with the same-side feet or the opposite-side feet? Some of the hand sequences are alternating movements done on consecutive steps, and are done with the same hand as the Mii's foot for that step. If you are in opposite-side feet, you will have to do left-foot/right-hand and right-foot/left-hand. If you are in same-side feet, you get to do left/left and right/right. As I said above, the game does not care which you do, so it is up to you which one you choose, whether you prefer left/right or left/left.

TIP 7: Choose one, either same-side feet or opposite-side feet, and practice it. Practice it thoroughly, and often.

TIP 8: If you practice this back-to-back, just hitting the have-another-go button each time, you will work up a sweat. Wear a sweatband on your forehead, or tolerate the sweat running into your eyes. Do not attempt to wipe it off. You don't have time between icons.

TIP 9: Do not expect to get a good score unless you keep your feet moving in time. As you move away from Perfect, you will lose 5 points each time you fail on the hand timing, no matter what your feet are doing. However, getting the hands right and the feet wrong costs you 4 points per set of icons. Getting all the hands right and all the feet wrong will reduce your score by 80%!

TIP 10: Practice. Practice. Practice.

Enjoy!

*giggles at tip #8*

Thank you cynique, that all makes a lot of sense, I'll try to just ignore the music next time (totally agree about the chaos in the advanced level!)

I'm seriously considering changing my language setting to French, it sounds much more interesting!
