The Press and Journal has a short piece about Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin (NHS link) which is using Wii Fit as part of the physiotherapy regime for children with arthritis.
Juvenile arthritis is a terrible condition that causes a lot of pain in young children, it must be very hard to get kids to do their exercises in spite of the pain and discomfort. Using something like Wii Fit, which can make those physiotherapy sessions more fun, makes is easier to get the kids active and also helps take their mind off the pain.
I think we will see a lot more use of gaming in treating children, it's a great way to sneak exercise into their play, as we all know the easiest way to get kids active is to make it fun.
