Hi Everyone,

I am brand new to Wii, and new to any type of gaming in general. I apologize in advance if I ask some really dumb questions!

In 2008, I starting working out and eating better and lost about 50 lbs. I have lost this amount of weight at least 5 other times in my life (I am 44). I have never managed to keep the weight off. I always gained it all back; plus some bonus pounds. I am determined to keep it off this time, and daily exercise is a big part of it. I try and get 45 minutes of cardio every day via various methods – treadmill, nordictrack, rebounder (mini trampoline) or walking outside.

I got a Wii for Christmas, including the Wii Fit plus.

So far I am enjoying the wii very much; initially, I was very frustrated with all the starting and stopping. Once I found the free cycle, things have been getting more challenging. I am hoping to figure out a 45 minute routine of cardio within the various options available for the Wii.

I have ordered EA Active More Workouts. I have bought Gold’s Gym Cardio Workout, but the only time I used it, I didn’t have time to devote to learning all the steps. So opted for something else. I would rather jump right into a routine/program and try and figure out the steps as I go. If I am moving around, and working up a sweat – it is all good. Any way of bypassing all the Demos?

Questions I have on Wii Fit Plus:

Is there a list of games, their various levels and what you have to do to achieve each level? In the basic run (I think) they have 10 minute, 20 minute, advanced. Is there somewhere to see all the different options in each of the various activities?

Is there a “free run” like there is a “free cycle?”

I have really enjoyed reading the forum posts and have learned a lot already – but still really a novice! Thanks in advance for your help!

With Wii Fit Plus they make you earn the next levels by completing the lower levels first. I think there is a free run segment, I'm not that into running, spend my time cycling. We have a bit of a competition going on here on the forum right now to see who can go the farthest in the 30 minutes allotted for free ride.

With EA More Workouts you get the tutorials the first time you do an exercise but you can shut them off as soon as they come on. Sometimes they are worth watching for a second because the game is very fussy about which way you hold the nunchuk and remote for the exercises. A full workout on the hard setting is pretty intense. If you like step aerobics there is a 30 minute one in the preset workouts.

We have a score sheet that shows most of the different things and the levels available at https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key ... haL_3YqN7A

I just read today that yes, there is free jogging after you have earned it. So enjoy! Good job on your workouts and weight loss!

Don't forget that the free jogging is still on a preset route, unlike the cycling where you can ride wherever you like (except in the water, up cliffs, and other such things, although you can ride in the surf at the edge of the beach).

I think I remember someone saying they followed a cat off the regular route although I don't remember is they wandered freely or if they still had to follow the cat.

The trick is to pick up a dog or cat, then over-take them by sprinting quickly. You then get a different dog/cat which takes you an alternative route.

Unfortunately there is no way to steer in jogging.
