Object of the game

Your Mii is trapped in a large bubble that floats in mid-air. You must navigate it along a river to the rainbow finish line while avoiding assorted hazards. This time, the game takes place in a mock-Aztec setting, complete with (small) ziggurats.

Equipment required

This game requires use of:

  • The Wii Balance Board

MET

Balance Bubble Plus has a MET of 2, meaning that it is a light intensity activity.

Time

This game takes up to two minutes. You can shorten this time by crossing the finish line or by hitting a hazard.

How to play the game

Shift your weight around on the Wii Balance Board to propel the bubble along the river. The bubble moves forward, back, left, right, or diagonally according to how you lean. The further you lean, the faster it goes.

Levels

There is only one level of Balance Bubble Plus

Scoring

The game is played against the clock, and if you cross the finish line, your score is the time you take to finish the course, the faster the better.

If you fail to finish the course, either because you crashed into a hazard or because you ran out of time, your score will be the distance you covered, the further the better, but all distance scores are "worse" than all time scores.

Hazards

There are various hazards in this game: rocks and river banks, turnstiles, darkness, pillars, and bees.

Rocks and River Banks

The river has banks, of course, and there are several rocks. Hitting any of them will burst the bubble and drop your Mii into the river, ending the game. This applies even to the rocks that support the rainbow that serves as a finish line.

Unlike the river in Balance Bubble, this river has sections where you must travel sideways.

Turnstiles

There are three three-armed turnstiles in the river. There is one large one by itself, and later on two smaller ones together. The basic approach is the same for all of them: approach the side that moves "with" you, and follow an arm as it rotates.

Darkness

Part of the river is in a tunnel, and this tunnel is completely dark aside from a small circle of light around you. Beyond this circle, you cannot see anything, which complicates navigation just a tiny bit.

Pillars

There are also pillars in the river. Of course, in keeping with the principle of not making life easy for the poor schmuck playing the game, the pillars are all hidden in the darkness...

Bees

Like Balance Bubble, this game has bees, although not nearly as many. The bees fly around, and if you touch one, the bubble bursts and your Mii falls into the river.

Hints and tips

  • In general, unless you have made a mistake, you will not need to go backwards. The key to getting a good score, obviously, is to stand at the front of the Wii Balance Board so that your weight is reasonably far forward. You will need to go directly sideways a fair amount, so do not be as keen to hug the front of the board as you would in Balance Bubble.
  • Pay close attention to the movement of the bees. Each bee follows a set path, and these fall into two categories: straight-line, and circular. Straight-line bees sprint along a line, either horizontal or vertical, then stop, rest, turn around, rest some more, and set off again in the reverse direction. Just before they set off, however, they will warn you by wiggling their tails. Circular bees fly in a circle, either solo or in an equally-spaced pair. You will not have to face a circular bee that is flying "against" you, but there is a risk of floating into the back of them if you are not paying attention.
  • If your arrival is timed right, you will be able to pass most of the way through the large turnstile without stopping. This does not apply to the small ones, which are synchronised so as to prevent this. The slow speed needed for this is the most dangerous aspect of the game; the board is astonishingly sensitive to small movements in the centre.
  • For shortest time you have to pass both small turnstiles clockwise.
