Big Top Juggling

Object of the Game
This is the most sadistic game in all of Wii Fit Plus.
Your Mii has run away to join the circus! Not content to be a clown, or to do the Tightrope Walk, your Mii has taken up juggling while standing on an over-sized balloon. Two other Miis are also there, throwing balls for you to juggle.
Equipment required
This game requires use of:
- Wii Balance Board
- Wiimote
- Nunchuck
MET
Big Top Juggling has a MET of 2, meaning that it is a light intensity activity.
Levels
There are two levels of Big Top Juggling:
Beginner
- Juggle up to three balls
- Dodge one bomb at a time
- Juggle for 90 seconds
Advanced
- Juggle up to five balls
- Dodge two bombs at a time
- Juggle for 120 seconds
How to play the game
The game concept is simple:
- Stay balanced on the balloon
- Keep the balls in the air
- Do not get hit by the bombs
Balancing on the balloon
- Shift your weight from side to side on the Wii Balance Board to change your Mii's balance on the balloon. You can do this to move the balloon across the circus ring.
- Your balance will be affected when you are very close to the sides of the ring, and this may cause you to drop the balls.
Keeping the balls in the air
- The helper-Miis will feed you additional balls over time, to a maximum of three on Beginner, or five on Advanced.
- To keep the balls in the air, make short upward wrist movements as they land.
- Try to keep the balloon away from the sides of the ring, because if you do not, you will drop the balls.
Avoiding being hit by the bombs
- If you are doing well enough, your friendly helper-Miis will throw you one anarchist-style bomb at a time on Beginner, or two at a time on Advanced.
- If a bomb lands on you, or just beside your balloon, you will bounce around and drop all the balls.
- On Advanced, the first bombs are thrown between the third and fourth balls. If you drop the fourth ball, you will not have to face the after-third bombs again, but if you drop the third ball as well, you will.
Apples
- Once you have all the balls, if you are continuing to keep them in the air, your Mii will celebrate by throwing a ball extra high. This ball comes down as an apple. Continue juggling, because the apples score double.
Scoring
Your score is calculated as:
- You score points each time you catch and throw a ball.
- The score is one point the first time, two the second, etc., up to a maximum of ten points per catch.
- This resets back to one point again if you drop a ball, even if you keep others going.
- Catching an apple scores double what catching a ball would score (2, 4, 6, 8, ... 18, 20 points per catch).
- The scoring rate is dependent on the number of balls. Time is divided into "units" of somewhere between one and two seconds; each unit begins when you catch a ball and ends just before you catch the same ball again. The length of a unit appears to be the same no matter how many balls you have, so you score three times as often when you have three balls as when you have just one.
The Price Of Dropping
Not to add any pressure or anything, but dropping a ball can cost you hundreds of points...
The way this works is: say you are on Basic (3-ball), and you drop the third ball shortly after you catch it. The cost is the loss of X amount of three-apple time (60 points per unit) at the end, to be replaced by an ascending sequence of two-ball time and some two-ball 10-point time. Bah. If you drop the second ball just after you catch it, it is worse, as you will never even see the third apple...
Perfect score
If you drop no balls or apples, your score will be 2005 points on the 3-ball level.
Hints and Tips
- Don't try to keep yourself still, instead, keep a small amount of left-right movement going, as this will help you remain stable.
- Keep the movement small, as large movements make it harder to catch and throw the balls.
- Keep the hand movements small. They should be no more than small flicks of the wrists.
- At regular intervals, a single bomb (Beginner level) will be thrown from one side of the ring to the same side. Be on the other side to avoid it.
- At regular intervals, a pair of bombs (Advanced level) will be thrown one from each side of the ring to the two sides, at the same time. Be in the middle to avoid them.
- Where do you look?
- Do not look at your Mii's hands.
- Do not look at the maniacs throwing bombs at you.
- Do not look at the beach ball.
- Especially do not look at your own hands.
- Look at the space above your Mii's head.
- You can predict when the balls will reach the "catch" point.
- You can tell when you are on centre because the beam supporting the roof is there.
- You can tell when the maniacs are throwing more balls or bombs at you because the drum rolls and the spotlights change (gives the peripheral vision a workout!).
- Practice, practice, practice! Your reflexes will improve and so will your score.
