Object of the Game
Join your Mii at the driving range.
Equipment required
This game requires use of:
- Wii Balance Board
- Wiimote
MET
Driving Range has a MET of 3, meaning that it is a moderate intensity activity.
Levels
There are three levels of Driving Range which differ only on the distance you are expected to hit the balls:
Approach
- 160 yards
Iron
- 200 yards
Driver
- 250 yards
How to play the game
You are given twenty golf balls, and you hit them one at a time toward a raised "green" with a hole and a flag.
Stance
The idea is that you stand as you would if you were on a real driving range. Like Skateboard Arena and Snowboard Slalom, you turn the balance board sideways. You hold the Wiimote as if it is the handle of a golf club.
Swing
You swing the Wiimote as if you are making a real golf swing. The Wiimote and the balance board track your movements.
Scoring
You score zero, five or ten points on each ball, depending on how close you are to the hole.
As a bonus, if your ball touches the green (even if it then falls off it), you get to see a reverse view as the ball arrives. Touching the green guarantees a ten-point score, but you can score ten without touching the green.
Perfect score
On all three levels, the perfect score is 20 balls at 10 points each for 200 points in total.
Hints and Tips
- Be relaxed as you swing - if your wrists and elbows are stiff, your swing will be less good.
- When preparing, you may find a tendency to lock your elbows inwards towards each other. Do not do this. Instead, relax them.
- Use the game's swing analysis display to help you improve your technique.
- Practice, practice, practice! Your technique will improve and so will your score.
