What is this?
This is a yoga position for the lower abdominals..
Benefits
Grounded V:
- Tones the lower abdominal muscles.
- Helps to improve posture.
Equipment required
This exercise requires:
- The Wii Balance Board
A mat or soft surface is recommended.
MET
Grounded V has a MET of 3, meaning that it is a moderate intensity activity.
Time
This exercise takes two minutes.
Levels
There is only one level of Grounded V.
How to do it
At all times, follow the movements of your trainer.
Initial Position
- Sit on the Wii Balance Board.
- Bend your knees, drawing your legs up in front of you.
- Put your hands on the front of your knees.
Set-up
- Move your arms behind you and straighten them so that your hands are on the floor behind you.
- Keeping your back straight, lean back a bit on your arms.
The position
- Keeping your knees bent, lift your legs.
- Straighten your legs so that your body resembles a 'V'.
Holding the Position
- Hold your legs up.
- Keep your back straight.
- Breathe in and out, keeping your breath steady.
- Concentrate on your balance so that you keep the red dot in the yellow circle.
Unwinding
- Bend your knees.
- Lower your feet to the floor.
- Put your hands on the front of your knees.
Repetitions
- There is only one repetition of this exercise.
Scoring
You are awarded points based on how well you kept the red dot in the yellow circle.
Problems
- Bring your lower abdominals in if your are having trouble keeping your legs up.
- If you wish to work both your upper and lower abdominals, do a few repetitions of this exercise after you have done Jackknife.
