Object of the Game
The object of this game is to drop coloured balls into matching pipes. Easy? No. To direct the balls you have to manipulate a series of tiltable platforms.
Equipment required
This game only requires the use of:
- Wii Balance Board
- Wii Remote
MET
Tilt City has a MET of 2, meaning that it is a light intensity activity.
Levels and time
There are three levels of Tilt City. They differ on the number of pipes and the control method:
Beginner
- Three pipes
- Wii Remote controls the single upper platform
- Wii Balance Board controls the two lower platforms
Advanced
- Four pipes
- Wii Remote controls the single upper platform
- Wii Balance Board controls the two lower platforms
Extreme
- Four pipes
- Wii Balance Board controls the single upper platform
- Wii Remote controls the two lower platforms
How to play the game
The balls enter play from the small ramp at the top of the screen. They drop onto the top platform. You tilt this to direct the balls to the appropriate second level platform, then tilt the second level platforms to direct the ball into the correct pipe. On the face of it, this does not seem so difficult.
The difficulty arises from the fact that there will be complex interlocked sequences of balls that must be steered in sequence, and the sequences sometimes seem contradictory. The Extreme level's control method is contradictory, in that the bottom part of you controls the top platform, rather than the bottom one.
Scoring
Your score is calculated like this:
- Each normal (small) ball dropped into the pipe of the same colour scores one point, plus a one point bonus for each previous ball, to a maximum of ten points per ball.
- Large balls score differently. On Beginner and Advanced, they score like the normal balls, but starting at ten points. On Extreme, they score twice what a small ball would have scored at that point.
- Each ball of any type dropped into a non-matching pipe scores nothing, and also sets your previous-ball bonus back to zero.
There are forty balls per game, regardless of level, and the levels have a maximum, "Perfect" score that you can reach if you get all balls in the right pipes.
Hints and tips
- On Beginner, exploit the fact that the blue pipe can be reached right-left or left-right.
