Levels and time
There are two levels of Single-leg Reach, each requiring a different number of repetitions and each taking a different amount of time:
- 6 times per leg: takes 1 minute.
- 10 times per leg: takes 2 minutes.
How to do it
- Stand on the Wii Balance Board with your legs apart and your arms at your sides.
- Bend your left knee and lift your left leg off the Wii Balance Board to the level of your waist.
- At the same time that you lift your left leg, raise your left arm straight up so that it is pointing at the ceiling and put your right hand on your right hip.
- Push back, straightening your left leg behind you so that it and your body are horizontal, with your left hand pointing at the floor.
- Hold the position for a moment.
- Concentrate on keeping your balance so that the red dot stays in the yellow zone.
- Straighten your body and, at the same time, bring your left leg back in front of you, bending your left knee; your left hand should now be pointing at the ceiling.
- Do as many repetitions as the level requires.
- Switch to the other leg.
Scoring
You are awarded points for how well you kept the red dot in the yellow zone for both the left and the right legs.
Problems
- If you cannot keep your balance, then hold on to a chair and work at the exercise everyday until you can do it unaided.
- Keeping your back straight will help you to keep your balance.
- Keep your movements fluid and steady: do not push back too energetically as it might cause you to lose your balance.
